Which of these establishments do you frequent was the first question. None, was cleverly constructed answer. Screened out for 5p 😉

Still, I keep looking!

Anybody play the National Lottery?
£10m lottery prize still unclaimed after two months -
A mystery lottery winner still hasn't claimed their £10m prize.
The hunt has been on since October to find the owner of the winning ticket, bought in Bexley, who has won £10,633,323.
The deadline of 180 days to claim the prize runs out on 2 April.
Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, suggests players check their coat pockets for the ticket.
And that's not all...
To top it all off, there are also four other tickets worth a combined £3.1m left to be claimed.
The first of those - worth £1m - must be claimed by 11 February. The ticket was bought in Birmingham on 15 August last year.
Another ticket bought in South Gloucestershire in November worth £1m must be claimed by 30 April, while a third £1m ticket, bought in Dorset in November, must be claimed by 3 May.
The final ticket, bought in Powys on 12 December, must be claimed by 10 June. It's worth £112, 091.
If nobody comes forward with a winning ticket, the money will go to National Lottery-funded projects.

If I entered once a year it would be unusual. Thanks for putting locations on the list - definitely none are mine.
Lol 63
I stopped playing the National Lottery when they slashed the chances of winning and doubled the price of a ticket.
If you do 2 lines on 2 draws for a year, that's £416 a year that you'll never see again unless you win. If you put £400 into Premium Bonds, you get 4800 entries every year you leave it there, and the money you put in is still yours. (Allowing for loss due to inflation.)

On the odd occasion when I buy a ticket, I do it online so they can notify me if I win anything. As my memory isn't as good as it used to be, even if I did make a physical purchase (not likely), I would only buy a ticket a few days in advance to reduce the risk of forgetting. lol

How do I stop the Update available popup appearing every time I come to the website? I have Refreshed and I am sure I am on the latest version. I hope this is not like Windows where updates come out almost weekly.
Marie
The blue message box saying “Update available A newer version of this page may be available. Would you like to refresh now?” means that something has changed on the page. Usually it means new comments have been posted or new replies to threads. It is to let those of the community who talk to each other know that there are new messages to read, which can help if they are mid conversation.
It is also linked to the draw timings and the day and also when we put a banner at the top of the page, giving an affiliate company the prime ad slot (for a price, of course). It shows whenever anything on the site changes.

If you vote ..... do you vote for the person or the party ???
I have no choice who my party representative is but for the greater good I still have to vote for them.
If you vote for someone and they switch party ...... how do you feel ???

Thank You all so much for intelligent and thoughtful words. Nice to have stimulating conversation that is topical. ....
Further to the topic ... the previous Conservative gvmt had done so much damage I voted for the party to beat them.
The differences between the parties sooooo vast they would hardly ever cooperate. Abstaining at least ensures majority vote wins and still a cop out.
Re. PR we will never be given a referendum to decide.
Some have said to abolish the House of Lords but they are the ones with the knowledge and the brains.

to be continued.

I think most have an idealised airy-fairy view of what they will do, and spend so much time slating the party in power that when they finally get elected and find, Whoops, we didn’t realise how hard it would be… then reality hits and suddenly they’re not the blue-eyed saviour on a white horse, charging to the rescue (sorry for the mixed metaphors), they’ve got to face resentment for breaking their promises of Arcadia, criticism by the party they have ousted and when the novelty wears off, the hard work and daily grind without the grateful thanks and adulation they thought they would get. Of course anyone who jumps ship should lose their seat - you can’t foist a party onto the constituents they didn’t vote for. The rule should be brought in asap. No canvassing, just a quick election of the previous candidates if they still want to stand, with the one who jumped ship eligible to stand as well. Voting one month later. Easy - sorted.

Lol 63

@Stinger69 You don't HAVE to vote for someone for the good of the party if you don't like the person. Similarly, you don't have to vote for someone if you like them but despise the party they represent.
I believe the recent strong showings for Reform is less about voters liking Reform, but more about sending a message to the major three (in England) that they don't listen to us, don't do anything about it, and half of them are corrupt or have at least one trotter in the trough.
samandi
I agree with Mick about the by-election, it might make politicians think twice before jumping ship.
Party leaders cause a lot of the problems, they tell MPs how to vote or be suspended whereas these MPs are supposed to represent and work for us because technically we have employed them.
MickmeDad
I take a considered view and vote how I think it will do most good.
Agree that if an MP or Councillor changes party, then a by/election should take place within a set period.
Little Owl
I vote for the party, but will not be voting for our local MP who abstained during the vote against the winter fuel allowance cuts and has done nothing to improve buses around here. In surveys I pick the party then when it comes to the MP, I have to click don't know! Don't think I could vote for someone who was disloyal. Wouldn't vote for another party just because the local MP changed alliances.
Jaffa
I have always thought that any mp who decides to jump ship mid term should not be allowed to continue in their constituency .People voted for the party they first belonged to not the one they move to.
Kat

I read half of (yawn) the transcript of the 'call a General Election now' petition. Only one of those debating in Westminster Hall said the really sensible thing, MPs of all parties should work together, representing their constituents & trying to find real solutions to our problems, rather than the childish points scoring set up we see daily. This was a LD MP. I have never voted for my sitting MP except once, when I did vote for him as a person, irrespective of his party. I don't vote for my natural choice because that vote would really be wasted. If we had PR then LD & Green would have a majority in the house. IMO. No labour voter could stomach voting Tory as a second choice, no Tory would vote Labour as second choice. That leaves LD, Green or Independent with a high chance of success. I think PR is a certain way of ensuring NObody gets the government they want.🤔
The thing most of those taking part in the debate seems to have missed isn't that people really want a GE. They want the government to listen!
Beth8it!
That’s a good principle, but it only works if you know the candidates. I know the names of some of the local ones but have only met the one who currently holds the seat - there may be better ones out there, but I have no idea who they really are. We never get any canvassers here - I wouldn’t mind a good debate! - so I can only go by what their blurb says - and that, I assume, is either party-written or at least party-approved, so effectively I have to go by what their party is standing for anyway. Can’t win.
Anonymous
I do tend to vote for the person, unless they are from a party I have grave misgivings about. I want an MP who listens to their constituents, I think the whole party politics model is breaking down and leads to people voting for MPs they don't really like because they're scared of the alternative party getting into government. And campaigning plays into that "don't vote for A because they can't win, we're the only party that can beat B" and often you'll have two parties each claiming they're the only party that can beat a third. It's rubbish. If everybody voted for the person they thought would make the best MP, never mind the party, any MP could win. And then maybe MPs could actually work together to come up with the best policies.
My mother is in Jenrick's constituency.
Beth8it!
This echoes a question I asked some years ago - should a politician state his/her own views and try and convince people that they are right, or see what his constituents want and represent them, even if he thinks differently? I know when the country voted for Brexit David Cameron stood down, as he did not believe in it and said he could not represent a policy properly if he felt it was wrong. Although I was disappointed, as I thought he could have been a very good PM, I still respected his ethics.
Similarly, now Jenrick has defected to Reform, his constituents are stuck with a Reform councillor, even though they may not want that party to run their council.

I bought quality street refill pouches at Tesco, bigger than most tubs these days and was told I could have got tubs cheaper at a supermarket. I knew that to be wrong but have been checking and I was right. I was in B&M myself today and couldn't believe how expensive it's become. They're charging at least 50-100% more than I pay on many things. I then went to Farm foods as they're doing 10 butter for £10 but in my area a certain section of the community buy it up. They're told 10 each but staff told me they're buying then returning same day. One woman came in 3 times, and they get the family in with them as well, so a pallet wouldn't last long. I hope to try my 2 nearest branches in the next couple of days. I did get 325g Lyles Butterscotch syrup at 39p, should be good especially at that price.

Would just like to say a massive thank you, for drawing out my postcode (ST4 6NU) yesterday (14th Jan, 2026) on the survey draw. A lovely £100 and £90.98 bonus came as an early birthday present for Saturday (17th) and I'm going to spend it on my dad, who's been diagnosed with Alzheimers and Vascular Dementia, along with a few other demising ailments he could definitely do without, I'm sure he'll love a weekend at the coast on his 91st birthday in June. I was more than shocked to see my postcode sitting there as bold as brass, and after I'd looked at it for what seemed an eternity, I made sure I claimed it in double quick time. Thanks again and good luck to everyone playing, I got a little despondent after playing since 2017 and no luck but here I am, 8 yrs later and grinning like a Cheshire cat after a lovely little win. It was paid into my PayPal account this morning and it's now safely tucked away in my bank account.
BTW, the new look to the site is great and works extremely well for me on my phone, tablet and laptop.

Torrential monsoon here all day. Went to bed 1.30am, Indi asked togo out 2.30, 3.45 and 5.30. She MAY have needed to go, but then I made the mistake yesterday of giving her the tag-end of my bit of tiger bread baton. She walked round with it for an hour, rushing to move it away every time I got near, then took it out in the garden last thing. I thought, Good, she’s left it there. No, on her night-time jaunts she dug it up (from one of the flower beds) and brought it back in, on the next one she must have taken it out with her and on the third one brought it back in again. I had to clean earth (mud), leaves and bits of grass off the carpet today. It is now in the bin. I also have two wet towels to dry off, and the nice new puppy pen with disposable puppy pads on the base, all ready so she can get used to it before they arrive, has been ‘dug up’ and shredded as she has obviously tried to bury the bread indoors, before taking it out to the garden. So much for being well-prepared.

Don’t think it’s the nesting instinct - she has always done this with ‘specials’ - bones, pigs’ ears, big chews at Christmas that she can’t eat all at once. ‘I’ll hide it in the flowerbed. Mum can replant all these bulbs I’ve chucked on the ground….oh dear, I’ve got to go in. Can’t leave it out here, someone might pinch it…I’ll take it in with me…got to go out for a widdle, must take it with me in case she throws it away…’

Well Chocolate Spaniel, I was going to thank you for that advice as I wasn't aware I'd be able to change font for an individual site. Unfortunately it's just weird. The comments page boxes have a small gap either side rather than going to the edge of the page, annoying already, but when increasing the font the left gap stays the same at about 6mm but the right-hand one increases from about 5mm to 9mm. Yes, the font is larger but the boxes for some strange reason become narrower. I'm on an android smartphone.
Just thought what if I go the other way? In fact the tinier the font the narrower the gaps either side. I'd have thought increasing font if anything it would increase the box to fit it, but it doesn't.

For those members who know my personal circumstances and like me to keep them informed, please don't worry when you don't see me tomorrow & Monday. Simon and I have booked a long weekend as our Christmas present to each other. We are going into London and seeing shows. While we have seen the odd show here & there, we always used to do a full weekend of shows once a year but haven't since his diagnosis. We're really looking forward to it.
As for an update about treatment etc, there isn't anything new for me to say. We are carrying on with the 3 weekly cycles of the trial. Last week was a treatment week and we are just waiting for the next scan. Continuing to live scan to scan. Live for now. He is still feeling well, just dealing with side effects as they come. They are mostly manageable, it is only the insomnia which is difficult, bless him.
We're really going to enjoy our time away together.

The font size setting is saved in local storage to the device that you're using rather than on the account itself. This is to support situations where you might want the text bigger on a small phone, but a little smaller on a large tablet.
If it's resetting on the same device please check that your browser isn't clearing your local storage between visits.

And of course the other reason is that it forces people to check the site more often so they don't get beaten to the "first to claim wins" draws, instead of taking their time and only checking twice a day.

Ironically people are encouraged to get their neighbours to sign up in order to increase the chances of their postcode being picked, but there are certain postcodes which have been targeted and now have in the hundreds of people registered, which could cause problems in terms of payouts if they are selected.

Sadly the Team decided to get rid of "Search Entries" as people may use it to find Golden Postcodes (=no entries), or those with more entries to get more of a chance of being picked.

If they know from previous surveys, that means they can identify us as specific entrants, rather than anonymous?

They know your demographic bracket from the previous surveys which you have completed. It's just the nature of market research. Ideally we would prefer them to not tell our site to show you an advert for a survey which their system knows you are either not a match for or which they know that they have enough answers from your bracket. But their technology is not at the level we or you would wish. Plus, communication could be slow between their system and ours. Maybe your bracket happened to only recently reach its quota but the information had not been communicated with our system yet.

I get that error too, but it's nothing new, I had the same issue on the original version!

Is it possible to fix this then, please, as I am having the same issue ;-)

Common 'issue' or occurrence with any prize draw, lottery, raffle, competition, isn't it.

I'm back I have just figured out why my emails from this site wasn't letting me to sign in.

Dexter nobody needs an email to sign in. The email is simply a reminder in case you’ve forgotten to check.
You need to check twice daily, otherwise you could miss your prize. The 9am, 6pm and 9pm draws are all first claims wins all.

Members can set their own reminders, save our site in their browser, etc. There are ways around the emails:

No need to use emails. Just set up your own reminders so you don't miss the first to claim wins. Draws are 9am, midday, 6pm and 9pm

@help me! - Yes my trouble too, I can see what the emoji's are meant to be till I post the comment, after that they are just unidentifyable small smudges of colour, like the thumbup & sun, & the tiger in my nickname looks more like Garfield. I now have to highlight & search to find out which emoji they are, ,.. or too much work & won't bother.

I like the updated version of the site. No issues. (at the moment). 😁
Edit: I am struggling with getting it to accept my comment. I can write it but as soon as I press to save the comment box is still there but nothing in it. Very strange! 🤔

My main complaint - CORRECTION - My only complaint about the new version of the site is that it has defaulted all the emojis to the new versions which lack the black outline and appear on my desktop PC monitor as vague unidentifiable smudges of colour. I always use the old legacy versions which are much clearer. I have the legacy versions as standard on my computer but this new version of the site, which I view on Edge or Firefox, seems to be pulling the emoji images from a website " s.w.org " which is a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Can anyone more techy than I can manage please advise me how to pull the emoji images from a specified folder on my computer? I'd be grateful (but not grateful enough to pay anyone). Thank you. 🙂
P.S. That's interesting. When I typed the above reply and added the smiley emoji it appeared as an outlined legacy smiley. Perfect. Sadly as soon as I posted the comment it changed to a smudgey smiley. Boo.

Enver, Kinks and Beatles I can deal with, its the Rolling Stones that I have to dodge.
I am on new site today but I don't see much difference, I haven't got further than this page yet.

Enver, I/we can't answer that until we have given time for as many accounts as possible to log in. Maybe we can answer that in a few weeks. Some members might be on holiday right now and might find a bug when they come home and next log in, for example.

Finally got to see the new site, and I'm impressed. Nice design, fast loading and, so far, no ads covering the draws!
ETA- I've only checked it on my tablet so far - will look at it on my desktop later.

Advice please - Indi’s puppies are due somewhen from today to next Wednesday. Panic levels rising (me). Is there any warning for ladies before their waters break? Is there very much? Just wondering if I have made enough precautions, with towels, newspapers etc. Will she know it is going to happen or be spontaneous, ie do contractions start before the waters break or the other way round? Is it too late to change my mind ?😊🐾

Why do you think women now have births in paddling pools or baths. "Yes, it was empty but my waters have broken". Sorry, couldn't resist that.

A few months more than 21 years ago I placed a waterproof undersheet in our bed. Csikiedit asked why and I told her she would know why when the time came. About two weeks later I asked her "What would you like to do tomorrow?" to which she gave no definite answer. During the night she woke and declared "I think I have just wet the bed" but I reassured her and phoned the maternity hospital. Her choice of activity was no longer in question.

Beth8it, my waters broke without me being aware. I'd had contractions on and off for a few hours, but no idea when the waters broke. I do remember that I couldn't get comfortable and fidgeted a lot until the contractions started to come more regularly. You will need to ensure all the placenta are delivered with each puppy 🐶. I believe that some dogs eat the placenta.

Enver - Yogi, a big yellow lab. Very handsome, lovely nature, adores water and launches off the river bank like a jet-powered rocket, about 4’ high with a huge splash when he lands - sometimes on top of the other dogs.
I was actually wondering about human ladies, whether they knew waters were going to break, as Indi sleeps on my bed a lot of the time, and I’d rather it didn’t happen there!

Beth, I only know about kittens, but Mum finds a safe place hidden away and the first time you will be aware there are any puppies is when Indi starts licking them to stimulate their breathing. Animals are wonderful parents. When Mum needs to go outside she will let you know so you can look after the family and keep them safe until she returns. Have spare blankets ready so you can lift the pups on the wet bedlinen and deposit them gently on the clean bedlinen while Mum is out for a pee. Hope all goes well.

Our dog took to her newly acquired 'ham box', she was only a little doglet, I was about 10 but I remember her getting in the box, which she had absolutely ignored for days, I went upstairs for a couple of minutes & she gave a very loud howl! I smelled the puppy as I pushed open the stair door! That was the only sound the dog made. First puppy was the biggest, followed by 5 smaller ones. The dog abandoned box & babies in favour of a run round the garden & only got in the box when she was told to go & look after them! I think if she'd had them outside she'd have only gone to them for her comfort!

It was a long time ago but IIRC Cindy kept rearranging her bed to make a nest a few hours before she went into labour. Hope all goes well though they usually just get on with it.
