I was told that B&M had reductions on tubs of Chocolates so I popped in to have a look £4.79, Which was more than the nearest supermarket before Christmas.
Home n Bargain was nearby, so I checked there. Headed into the 'seasonal' aisle I was confronted with Easter Eggs. What on earth is seasonal about Easter in January ? 😕
I made my excuses and left !

Would just like to say a massive thank you, for drawing out my postcode (ST4 6NU) yesterday (14th Jan, 2026) on the survey draw. A lovely £100 and £90.98 bonus came as an early birthday present for Saturday (17th) and I'm going to spend it on my dad, who's been diagnosed with Alzheimers and Vascular Dementia, along with a few other demising ailments he could definitely do without, I'm sure he'll love a weekend at the coast on his 91st birthday in June. I was more than shocked to see my postcode sitting there as bold as brass, and after I'd looked at it for what seemed an eternity, I made sure I claimed it in double quick time. Thanks again and good luck to everyone playing, I got a little despondent after playing since 2017 and no luck but here I am, 8 yrs later and grinning like a Cheshire cat after a lovely little win. It was paid into my PayPal account this morning and it's now safely tucked away in my bank account.
BTW, the new look to the site is great and works extremely well for me on my phone, tablet and laptop.

Torrential monsoon here all day. Went to bed 1.30am, Indi asked togo out 2.30, 3.45 and 5.30. She MAY have needed to go, but then I made the mistake yesterday of giving her the tag-end of my bit of tiger bread baton. She walked round with it for an hour, rushing to move it away every time I got near, then took it out in the garden last thing. I thought, Good, she’s left it there. No, on her night-time jaunts she dug it up (from one of the flower beds) and brought it back in, on the next one she must have taken it out with her and on the third one brought it back in again. I had to clean earth (mud), leaves and bits of grass off the carpet today. It is now in the bin. I also have two wet towels to dry off, and the nice new puppy pen with disposable puppy pads on the base, all ready so she can get used to it before they arrive, has been ‘dug up’ and shredded as she has obviously tried to bury the bread indoors, before taking it out to the garden. So much for being well-prepared.

Sounds like it won't be long. Cats pick things up in their mouths just before the birth - practice for picking the kittens up by the scruff of the neck.

Maybe she thinks the pups will like what she likes, hence the bread donation, then changed her mind; or it could just be baby/puppy-brain setting in. She must be near if she's getting restless. Bless her. 😉

For those members who know my personal circumstances and like me to keep them informed, please don't worry when you don't see me tomorrow & Monday. Simon and I have booked a long weekend as our Christmas present to each other. We are going into London and seeing shows. While we have seen the odd show here & there, we always used to do a full weekend of shows once a year but haven't since his diagnosis. We're really looking forward to it.
As for an update about treatment etc, there isn't anything new for me to say. We are carrying on with the 3 weekly cycles of the trial. Last week was a treatment week and we are just waiting for the next scan. Continuing to live scan to scan. Live for now. He is still feeling well, just dealing with side effects as they come. They are mostly manageable, it is only the insomnia which is difficult, bless him.
We're really going to enjoy our time away together.

I like the freshness of the new design, and so far I have been able to do as I did before.
However, I must say that I would prefer the script to be slightly larger - the size of the nicknames would be perfect - I am sure the transition has made the print smaller.

The font size setting is saved in local storage to the device that you're using rather than on the account itself. This is to support situations where you might want the text bigger on a small phone, but a little smaller on a large tablet.
If it's resetting on the same device please check that your browser isn't clearing your local storage between visits.

And of course the other reason is that it forces people to check the site more often so they don't get beaten to the "first to claim wins" draws, instead of taking their time and only checking twice a day.
Anonymous

They might only get tiny amounts of the shared prize, but if each had a large bonus...
Anonymous

They’d either share, meaning tiny amounts for each, or only one would be able to claim on the first claim wins all draws. Judging by the claim rate, probably only 2 out of the hundred would check and claim. 😆

Ironically people are encouraged to get their neighbours to sign up in order to increase the chances of their postcode being picked, but there are certain postcodes which have been targeted and now have in the hundreds of people registered, which could cause problems in terms of payouts if they are selected.

They know your demographic bracket from the previous surveys which you have completed. It's just the nature of market research. Ideally we would prefer them to not tell our site to show you an advert for a survey which their system knows you are either not a match for or which they know that they have enough answers from your bracket. But their technology is not at the level we or you would wish. Plus, communication could be slow between their system and ours. Maybe your bracket happened to only recently reach its quota but the information had not been communicated with our system yet.

My main complaint - CORRECTION - My only complaint about the new version of the site is that it has defaulted all the emojis to the new versions which lack the black outline and appear on my desktop PC monitor as vague unidentifiable smudges of colour. I always use the old legacy versions which are much clearer. I have the legacy versions as standard on my computer but this new version of the site, which I view on Edge or Firefox, seems to be pulling the emoji images from a website " s.w.org " which is a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Can anyone more techy than I can manage please advise me how to pull the emoji images from a specified folder on my computer? I'd be grateful (but not grateful enough to pay anyone). Thank you. 🙂
P.S. That's interesting. When I typed the above reply and added the smiley emoji it appeared as an outlined legacy smiley. Perfect. Sadly as soon as I posted the comment it changed to a smudgey smiley. Boo.

Advice please - Indi’s puppies are due somewhen from today to next Wednesday. Panic levels rising (me). Is there any warning for ladies before their waters break? Is there very much? Just wondering if I have made enough precautions, with towels, newspapers etc. Will she know it is going to happen or be spontaneous, ie do contractions start before the waters break or the other way round? Is it too late to change my mind ?😊🐾

A few months more than 21 years ago I placed a waterproof undersheet in our bed. Csikiedit asked why and I told her she would know why when the time came. About two weeks later I asked her "What would you like to do tomorrow?" to which she gave no definite answer. During the night she woke and declared "I think I have just wet the bed" but I reassured her and phoned the maternity hospital. Her choice of activity was no longer in question.

Beth8it, my waters broke without me being aware. I'd had contractions on and off for a few hours, but no idea when the waters broke. I do remember that I couldn't get comfortable and fidgeted a lot until the contractions started to come more regularly. You will need to ensure all the placenta are delivered with each puppy 🐶. I believe that some dogs eat the placenta.

Enver - Yogi, a big yellow lab. Very handsome, lovely nature, adores water and launches off the river bank like a jet-powered rocket, about 4’ high with a huge splash when he lands - sometimes on top of the other dogs.
I was actually wondering about human ladies, whether they knew waters were going to break, as Indi sleeps on my bed a lot of the time, and I’d rather it didn’t happen there!

Beth, I only know about kittens, but Mum finds a safe place hidden away and the first time you will be aware there are any puppies is when Indi starts licking them to stimulate their breathing. Animals are wonderful parents. When Mum needs to go outside she will let you know so you can look after the family and keep them safe until she returns. Have spare blankets ready so you can lift the pups on the wet bedlinen and deposit them gently on the clean bedlinen while Mum is out for a pee. Hope all goes well.

Our dog took to her newly acquired 'ham box', she was only a little doglet, I was about 10 but I remember her getting in the box, which she had absolutely ignored for days, I went upstairs for a couple of minutes & she gave a very loud howl! I smelled the puppy as I pushed open the stair door! That was the only sound the dog made. First puppy was the biggest, followed by 5 smaller ones. The dog abandoned box & babies in favour of a run round the garden & only got in the box when she was told to go & look after them! I think if she'd had them outside she'd have only gone to them for her comfort!

I found a staff member as the ticket showed "half price 20p". As the original price was there, it didn't add up. I asked if they were actually 20p as it says half price. He said "Yes they're all 20p, it doesn't say half price". So I showed him and he said "Oh yes, it does. No they're 20p". I wonder if maybe they were reduced by half and everyone's bought them so none left by the time of the further reduction.

Today I used the online form to contact my GP for an appointment. It is another of those situations where I wanted to tear my hair out. They ask questions and you have to give a Yes or No answer but as I know, from doing surveys, the simple answer doesn't tell the whole story. I had to go back and change a previous answer a couple of times just to get through to the end. The annoying thing is I just want the treatment I have had before for the same problem, previously I could have spoken to a receptionist and she would have given me an appointment. This is a case of innovation making the simple difficult.

Our practice now uses Blinxs, much easier than the old system. I got replies quite quickly. I also had to take a photo of my condition, which I was able to send via the link I was sent. A GP was able to make a decision on further care and treatment much quicker. I was also
informed by reception that they can make appointments for any of our nurses.
We do have a large practice covering a big area, with at least 10,000 + patients.

Our surgery uses e consult. The issue with it is that it doesn't have a category for pain, particularly chronic pain. I have chronic pain in many joints, so in order to get seen, I have to write the same thing many times for pain in hips, knees, back and neck. It's ridiculous

As far as I'm aware the 8am rush to call a GP has been changed by this government. They are supposed to allow people to make an appointment throughout the day. Also they said GP's have to allow people to make appointments online, or over the phone. As I was aware of this I tried walking in today maybe 10:30ish and asking to make an appointment. She said they hadn't any & I'd have to call in the morning at 8. I, acting dumb, said I thought it had been changed but didn't know how and the reply was (and you may be able to smell it from where you are) yes we have to allow triage throughout the day, but we don't have any appointments left, you're better calling in the morning. In fact she'd asked earlier if I could go online but I've always stuck to the fact that I have no internet or mobile, and I'm borrowing this one from a friend so don't put their number on my records. I also deliberately given different numbers occasionally when requesting it so they might realise I'm borrowing different phones.

I totally agree with you all about how difficult the system will be/is for many older people. I (68) am quite internet savvy and do all of our "admin" stuff online - eg. booking appointments, online banking, etc. My husband (76) hasn't a clue how to use the internet though. I've tried showing him a few things but he just doesn't get it. Sounds morbid but I really hope I don't die first or he won't have a clue what to do. :-( My dad, who was in his 90s when he died, wouldn't have had a clue about these kind of things either had he still been alive. As usual, no-one in authority thinks about older people.
EDITED TO ADD: By the way, our GP has used an online system for quite a while now but it doesn't work the same as you're all talking about here - ie. there's no way to answer questions, etc. I don't know if they're going to have to move to a different system to do this? Currently, they're still using the old online system.

My wife's godmother is fed up with everything relying on being online and assuming that everyone has internet access. She's 95, partially sighted (so she can't even see a smartphone, let alone use it,) doesn't have an internet connection and has no intention of getting either.
But in today's world EVERYTHING is geared around internet and smartphone access. It's really unfair on the older folk, and I'm not that happy about being forced that way myself.
Even Warner Leisure (holidays geared for the older generation) have come up with the brilliant idea not to print weekly schedules of activities any more but instead get everyone to read everything on their ******* app. All very well if you're somewhere with a decent signal.
I have a smartphone and I work with technology, and even I'm fed up with it. When I go on holiday, I want a break from technology.

When my colleague rang her GP to get an appointment, she was told she had to fill in an online form. She kept saying that she couldn't do it as she doesn't use the internet so, in the end, the receptionist filled it in for her, spoke to the doctor and she got an appointment that afternoon.
The current system will definitely prevent some people, who have a serious medical condition, from requesting an appointment. It will also mean that more people go to A&E.

This is definitely better for those of us who can use a mobile easily. What I don’t understand is for the folk who use a Dr most it is very difficult to do as they age.
I do think we need to have a drastic re think on this gp system because it’s our first port of call .
I don’t know if turning up and being triaged in person and then sent off to an appropriate place or an appointment made might help but there will always be people who abuse the system.

Not sure what’s going to happen when everything is being done online. Neighbour has a basic Doro big-button mobile - it can text but he doesn’t know how and won’t learn. He totally refuses to get a smart phone after using my spare one a year or so back when his phone died. I think it frightened him, having to swipe the screen. He thought he would muck things up.

My Gramps is 84, has COPD, multiple sites of skin cancer and his hip and shoulder cause him pain. (We're hoping he might get a hip replacement.) He has a mobile for emergencies, but doesn't use it and can only use his computer for emails and for checking his online banking. He prints the statement and then copies it into his ledger. (I believe he still does this.)
He asked how he was supposed to make a GP appointment when he can't do an eConsult. He was told to come in and fill out a paper version. 🙄 To top it off, there are no tables there to fill the form out and he can't stand for long at a counter or anything. So he took multiple forms home so that he has some for when he next needs. My mum is with him at an appointment this afternoon, but we were not told which of his many issues this was regarding. I'll call her later and find out.

Cakey, they have had this system at my local Medical Centre for about a year. Last May I wanted to make an appointment and rang the receptionist who said I needed to fill out an online form, I used the 'I am 83 and can't do it online' excuse, and she said she would help me by sending me a text message with the questions to send back my reply! As I was on my mobile I couldn't very well refuse that, but the questions didn't really cover what I needed the Dr to know. I answered it as best I could and got a response 'A Dr or Practise Nurse will call you back in up to 48 hours'
I have several elderly friends who don't have and can't use computers (and some can't even text on mobile phones) so how are they supposed to manage this new appointments system? One told me recently that she would just not bother to make an appointment unless she was very ill! Perhaps that is the reasoning behind this new move, that they will get less patients with minor ailments making appointments, but how can a person be sure that their seemingly mild symptoms are not a sign of something serious?
A Dr did call me back, I told her I felt a bit breathless when walking and she made an appointment to see me the next day. I didn't think it was anything to worry about but, after a couple of tests, the Dr told me to go immediately to the hospital, where I was admitted and diagnosed with old blood clots in my lungs! I now have to take blood thinners for the rest of my days.

I wonder if they used patients to trial the app?I doubt it.
