  • Wonder how full the PMP inbox is this morning ..... "where's my email?"

    • How did you guess, Choc Spaniel?! In answer to your question - very! 🙂

  • Happy birthday to Sir David Attenborough, 100 years old today!

    • And still working. Amazing! 🎉

  • I'm not getting my emails of draws taking place the last two days

I'm having to go on website to sign in.

    Can you help?

    • As I posted yesterday, we're currently experiencing issues with Microsoft blocking our daily reminder emails for both Pick My Postcode and Win a Dinner.

  • Well, looks like hantavirus is on its way. We are told 2 people returned to the UK and are self-isolating. I assume that's like it was during COVID where everyone self-isolated, which meant shopping, visiting friends and family and having holidays and days out. What we don't seem to be told in the same way is that 30 people left the cruise, including one who had died, and that 7 of those were Britons. Was that planned, or rats leaving a sinking ship, who may have the virus but wanted to get off before they were seen? We may find out soon enough, but let's hope not.

    • Cruise ship cabins have ventilation systems, that's how it could have spread. Somebody who went on the birdwatching trip brought it back on their shoes, put them to dry somewhere, the dust got into the system.

    • Apparently they had all been travelling in various countries on tours etc before joining the ship - if they had gone to a zoo, farm etc they could easily have touched something infected and brought it back to th3 ship - I doubt there was a rat infestation and lots of rat urine all round the ship without someone noticing.

The people who left early were scheduled to do so, not … leaving a ship, so to speak.

    • That was my point Rosy. You hear about the two who disembarked in St Helena but not the other 28 who also disembarked there. One was a man who had died a fortnight earlier and his Dutch wife was accompanying his body, but during onward travel she became ill and also died. It still leaves 28 who left the ship there. It is believed to have come from a bird watching expedition, so it is interesting how it could have been contracted.

    • The 2 Brits on that cruise that left in St Helena have to isolate for 45 days. Its spread through close contact with dried rodent droppings, or can be human to human but in very close prolonged contact (its not spread via droplet infection).

Gene Hackmans wife died from hantavirus and rats nests were found in their outbuildings.

    • Self isolating means attending football matches, festivals and as many trips to the theatre and cinema as possible doesn’t it?

  • The last time I had a email from PMP was on Tuesday but luckily I hadn't deleted that one so able to check next two days from that email. Are we going to be getting daily emails in the future?

    • Just set yourself a reminder.

    • You can visit the site from any old PMP email, type in pickmypostcode.com or google the site, or even bookmark any page by clicking the star⭐on the right of the URL & then "Done".

    • Maybe it's time to scrap the daily emails. Lots of people cannot understand that they can access the site without one,, as if it's by invitation only. Send a final email telling everyone that this is the last and they need to set their own reminders. I feel sorry for admin and all PMPrs who are constantly repeating themselves to no avail.

    • You don’t need any email to visit the site. It’s here 24 hrs a day. Just visit! The email is only a reminder. 😊

    • Scroll down to the explanation from Admin Marie.

  • Will you be able to back date the Draws, so that we can play the Wednesday and Thursday Draws. I have not have my PMP Draws for Wednesday and Thursday.

    • You don’t need any email to email to visit.

How do you manage to check all 9 daily draws?

    • There's no point checking the Wednesday draws, as you wouldn't be able to claim retrospectively. You can see that draw recorded across the 5 tabs of Winners Results (Mini Draw is not recorded) Today's results are currently on the pages with the 9am Stackpot changing at 9pm

    • I'm gmail and my reminder came through @ 1251Hrs, no problems here...

    • It's 17:34 and my Thursday reminder just came through while I'm reading the Bonus Draw page.

    • It seems to be blocked on Gmail as well and it hasn't even made it to the spam/junk folder.

  • Just taken a Pure Spectrum survey and got screened out at the first question. Which was, in its entirety, "Edinburgh, Scotland? " with only Yes and No as options.Thanking they were asking my location i clicked on No. Wrong answer! 🙄

    So what was the question?

    (No, I didn't take a screenshot.)

    • I had a Samplicious one yesterday which told me, early on, to choose up to 3 options. When I clicked on a second option, the first choice tick disappeared. I decided to leave it at one choice, and proceed, but there was no 'forward' button to click on. I abandoned the survey in disgust. It's the first time that I've ever had a problem with Samplicious. They are usually very good, and the 5p ejection bonuses mount up nicely.

    • Me too.

    • I had it yesterday with same result.

    • I keep getting that one. All it has on the screen is Edinburgh Scotland and a tick box, yes or no. Doesn't matter which one you tick, nothing happens. I have got a picture of it but I was hoping to get more information to go with it

    • We’re all grateful for the prize money but why do they have such fools designing surveys that people don’t understand. They’ll probably conclude no one looked at it

    • Given that there are lots of Edinburghs around the world, did they want confirmation that there is one in Scotland?

I've had that non-question and I ticked the wrong box too.

    • I would assume they were asking for your location and you were screened out because it wasn't the one they were looking for.

  • Puppy tails: Now I only have the two termites to look after I have been working on house-training a bit more - it’s quite hard, but a lot easier than when there were six of them! I am getting up at the first whimper, around 5-5.30am, whizz them out of the door, out through the gate and onto the copse outside. They like to use the ditch, or the fallen leaves, but Shadow is really funny - he is Not A Morning Person! He went out of the french door of the bedroom, curled up on the lawn and did the ‘big white eyes’ at me when I hauled him up on all four legs. Nice quiet walks today, as I had to go to the hospital for a cortisone injection to my shoulder - apparently, the rotator cuff tendon, that was repaired in 2020, has now got two more tears in it. When my surgeon came to see me after the op in 2020, he said the tendon was like a bit of lace, and he had trouble finding enough sound tissue to fix the repair part to. It looks like I could be heading for a complete rupture one day - something else to look forward to! Anyway, re the boys - we have had four dry nights and only one night where they poo-ed and that was because I put them out a bit too early in the evening, about 9.30pm. Since then I have put them out 11.30-12.30 at night, and 5-5.30am. They are loose in the house when I am home, provided the back door is open, and they have been good about going out when they need to. I am using far fewer training pads now - going to cancel the deliveries for a while as I have two complete packs in reserve. It’s about time - packs no. 18 and 19 just been delivered, so that’s nearly 2,000 pads to get to this stage! They had their first wormer and flea treatment today, too - I signed up for the Care Club at the vets so they now get all their W&F treatment, vaccinations, a free bag of food each, discount on any treatment or neutering. It’s a pity I didn’t sign them up earlier and get the microchip done free too, but six puppies at nearly £20/month each wasn’t worth it. Anyway, they wolfed down their tablets in their food with no problem, unlike Indi who always find them and eats round them, leaving them for me to start the wrestling match with her afterwards.

We met a couple of neighbours while out this evening, and I was very pleased that the boys just settled down to wait for us to finish talking, didn’t pull or fidget. I have just booked up a holiday for September- myself, stepson and his girlfriend if she is able to get the time off, and Indi, Poppy, Shadow and possibly Storm, if he hasn’t been rehomed by then. It could be quite a trip!

    • Trouble is, to get cancellation cover you have to disclose ALL your medical conditions- Every. Single. One. Can you remember every condition you have had?

    • Medical Insurance generally isn't worth it if staying in the UK, if anything happens just phone the NHS helpline, or go to the nearest A&E or doctor.

Travel insurance is generally recommended for any trip involving overnight stays, with many policies requiring you to be at least 50 to 100 miles away from home to qualify for coverage, or requiring at least one to two nights of pre-booked accommodation. While essential for international travel, it is also useful for UK staycations covering cancellations, baggage, and personal accidents.

    • On the matter of the holiday I have just booked, I arranged insurance through Staysure straight away (are you impressed, Martin Lewis?) . It took over an hour to plough through the compulsory notices read out, the details that they already on file from last year (can’t re-use them) and then the War and Peace volume of my medical history. This is just for a week in a cottage in Wales, mind you. A few minutes in, he put me on hold - cut me off. I waited a while, then rang back, and he then rang me at the same time. One hour and a few minutes later, we finalised at £63-odd pounds - quite reasonable until you realise that all the conditions are excluded, plus broken bones, because I have had osteo-arthritis, and the exclusions say that no cover will be given if any treatment or investigation is outstanding. As I told him, I was seeing my consultant today (7th), so I wasn’t sure what exactly I WAS being covered for. I then found that the bright spark, despite being specifically asked to take care with the personal details, after last year’s rigmarole to try and put their mistake right, actually put me down as 6’7” (I’m tall, but not that tall) and, instead of xx stone and 7lb, put 77lb. He asked me how many IBsI was. IB? Penny dropped lb, pounds. His attempt at ‘benign cyst’ totally floored me until he spelled it. I used the website to try and correct his mistakes, got an agent, spent another half hour with him, then eventually got told I would have to ring, as it was an excluded condition. So I rang them. And cancelled it. First time ever going with no insurance, but never going through that again.

    • Ours on this course were Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, ‘Julius Caesar’ and ‘As You Like It,’ Spencer’s ‘Faerie Queene,’which I really enjoyed, Wycherley’s ‘The Country Wife’, Moliere’s ‘Tartuffe’, Donne and the Petrarchan Poets (love John Donne), ‘The Poetry of Sex and Seduction’ (very … informative!😊), Rousseau’s ‘Confessions’ and Jane Austen’s ‘Pride & Prejudice’ and ‘Persuasion.’ Out of those, the ones I would not read again were Will S’s AYLI, Tartuffe (read it before, and Le Malade Imaginaire - not mad about Moliere) and Rousseau - I think I might make a voodoo doll of him, so wherever his spirit is, it gets to know what he has put us through!

    • Oh I love Middlemarch but we can’t all enjoy the same things.

    • I did an OU lterature course some years ago and of the many books we read (would it have been as many as 12?) there were several i didn't like and made my opinion known: Portrait of a Lady - why did James bother putting pen to paper as nothing happens in it. Middlemarch - best thing about this was reading it in bed sent me to sleep very quickly. I didn't have any kind words for Madame Bovary or Heart of Darkness either.

    • It all sounds exhausting Beth but obviously long term the effort will pay off.

Enjoy your holiday when it comes.

    • Wales - bit inland from the Ceredigion coast. I may meet up with another Open Uni student from the English Lit I have been doing. After reading part of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s ‘Confessions’ I replied to the tutor’s enquiry as to what we thought of it, that I thought he was a whining, self-pitying little twerp who couldn’t take responsibility for his actions, thought he was vastly superior to everyone and couldn’t take any authority. I got a lot of support - very few liked this text, although it’s quite good to write the essays on. We decided we ought to have a ceremonial disposal after the course ended - a bonfire was suggested, which was quickly upgraded to a trebuchet 😊 which got my vote - someone said they are about £80 on Amazon! However, one person lives in Wales so if it is the right area we might go and hurl him off the cliffs together into the sea. Alternatively, I will go to Hythe Pier and drown the little b* as he should have been at birth!

Back to the pups for a moment - Indi had a creme fraiche pot that I had finished at breakfast, and I was using it as an exercise for the pups not to dive in and steal another dog’s property. They were being very good, lying down and watching, but as soon as she abandoned it, they grabbed it between them and took off into the garden. I solved the ownership problem (Storm always wins) by giving Shad Indi’s empty food tray, so all was peaceful until Storm finished licking it out and started crunching it - I don’t like them chewing on plastic too much as it cuts their gums and they aren’t supposed to swallow it, so I went to take it from him and the little blighter growled at me! Well, he was heaved about three feet backwards, bellowed at, smacked bottom, then we had a training session where I gave him the pot, walked him a few yards, took it from him, gave it back etc about half a dozen times. Don’t think he will make that mistake again!

    • To anywhere interesting? Maybe in next few years we'll see an advert "Car For Sale - one careful lady owner, from smoke & (currently) pet free home". 🤣

  • Sorry if I seem thick but why does the offer say, ‘£2 PMP Bonus Survey’ and then ‘add £1 to your bonus.’ ?

    • Sounds like an error in the offer. Maybe the image used was the wrong one. I'll ask my colleagues.

    • More comments on the survey page Beth. I didn’t get either.

  • I've just had another unbelievable call to a bank today. Due to wanting paper statements quite some years ago they told me they could only send them as if I was blind or partially sighted. I accepted it and found it became a booklet as the print was so large there were numerous stapled sheets. I also found for years after that they made errors in the name or address. They also slipped a normal 2 sheet statement inside the booklet which was fine. Suddenly all I'm getting is the large print which is so badly laid out I can't really follow it so I phoned and explained. She said "So you want it changing back to a normal statement?" I just laughed, not believing what I was hearing. She set it up in seconds. She even admitted her sister gets the others and the font is too large and it messes it up. Turns out the assistant was from Yorkshire where they still use a very clever thing from the olden days. Not many companies in these days of technology use it now. It's called common sense. I said to her that was so simple, and she replied well it is simple. It just shows, get the right person and things work.

    • Nowadays the (HBOS) bank staff tell you "You're no longer a person, you're just an account number"

    • I’ve been with NW since I was 18 - very rarely had a problem, the telephone staff are really helpful and their app is brilliant - really easy and reliable. I suppose it’s like car brands - if you get a good one, you swear by it; if you get a bad one you swear at it. The lady in the branch I use started there not long after I joined and when I go in it’s really nice to be recognised and spoken to by name.

    • Funny you should mention NatWest, Enver.

Years ago my dad was a credit manager for a very large industrial supplier and insisted that they use NatWest BECAUSE NatWest were so prone to mistakes.

The thinking was that in those days the interest rate was £700 per million per day. If they made a mistake against you, you could claim the interest back off them. But if they made a mistake in the company's favour, simply leave it there until they spotted it themselves. In which time it was accruing interest.

It wasn't fraud, it was simply a banking error that hadn't been spotted yet. It just happened to take a bit longer to spot the ones in the firm's favour.

    • I wouldn't use RBS/Nat West/Ulster group, always problems with them.

I was with Nat West when I was working in London, but they wanted to charge me business rates (£1 deposit, £2 withdrawal) cos I was writing frequent cheques (with guarantee card) for filling up with fuel in my car when travelling long distance round UK on weekends & holidays. Result, I changed to another bank.

Then few years ago when RBS had a decent account offer, the branch refused to open an account purely as I wasn't employed at the time, ... I later found out they were forcing everyone into debt with extortionate charges, & making small business owners bankrupt.

RBS cashiers also refused to accept everyones cheque payments (drawn on another bank) into any RBS accounts, people were told to deposit it into the clearing system at their own banks cashier, or post the cheque to the recipient.

When I have a picture that won't transfer directly to desktop screen, I drag or copy it onto an email, then onto desktop, & go from there.

    • Tried to switch our joint account to RBS. Must be done online, so started filling in the form. Needed 'photo proof of ID and another of address' so was directed to a mobile app to take required proofs using phone's default browser. Initial attempt produced portrait window for landscape pictures - no matter how I turned documents, app would not accept photo's.

Went into bank (we still have one in Frozen North) but they couldn't get it to work.

Deleted firefox and installed Chrome and app finally took required photos and transmitted them somewhere to validate them. Informed validation failed as 'we couldn't positively identify you'.

Bank advised that RBS had set up a special group of custmer service agents as "Account Opening Exceptions Team" as they had had a lot of complaints.

Had several attempts at phoning them, as they were always busy. Finally got through and described problem with photo's. Agent said "they only work with Google Chrome and no other browser".

He initially stated that the process took a while as he had to read several Security/Recording statements during the process and get my acceptance of the relevevant terms!

We started to fill out the forms and deciding which offer I wanted and some other details, then, after 1 hour 15 mins, informed me that we had finished and I would get an email with the account details and a letter requesting that I take my proofs of Id and address in the local branch.

Done and dusted, now waiting for PIN numbers for our debit cards!

      🧙‍♂️🧑‍🦯🤣

  • So fed up of being asked if I'm interested in Bitcoin over and over and over again. If I wasn't interested last year, wasn't interested last month, wasn't interested last week and wasn't interested yesterday, why would I be interested today?

    • El Salvador in Central Americas use (US Dollars💵 &) Bitcoin 💰as legal tender, after it was adopted as such by the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador in 2021.

    • It's the sort of question I prefer, quick to read and even quicker to respond no.

    • So many people say they don't like something when they haven't even tried it. Some will even lie about having tried it just to try and verify the lie. Anyway, back on the subject. If you haven't tried bitcoin you should try it, it's lovely. There again there are those who haven't tried it and say it's lovely when it's probably very foolish to do so.

    • @ mags, on the Survey Draw page 2 days ago.

    • Didn't someone put the same complaint on here a few weeks ago?

    • Thanks for explaining, Choc Spaniel.

    • Maybe they should add a fed up being asked button?🤣🤣

    • How long did it take you to type this? Was it less than simply answering 'No' and moving on?

You failed to read this disclaimer at the top of the question ...

"This survey is designed to understand the change in attitude towards a subject over time, so you may have already answered it before and may be asked to answer it again in the future."

As Marie said yesterday ... verbatim

'Clients paying us to undertake market research is part of what enables us to be a free prize draw giveaway. We can’t afford to turn away paying clients. As long as they wish to keep paying for us to ask it, we will. It only takes a second to answer.'

  • I was making soup today and the recipe said 5 potatoes cubed.

    I thought 125 potatoes was a bit much!! 😜😜

    • K.B. brilliant, don't know where you get them from but keep them coming.

That sounds like a Tim Vine joke.

    • That one took a second or two but still made me laugh.

    • Kb :-) :-) :-)

    • And don't dice with carrots. It can be very dangerous.

    • Lol63, as a mathematical pedant, 5 cubed potatoes might be 125 potatoes but you cannot mathematically cube a potato.

    • Sounds a bit DICEy to me.

Tip: The smaller the bits are, the faster they cook.

    • 🤣

    • One for the mathematical pedants there 😀

  • Thanks very much Beth and Marie for the lovely new photos. It's great to see how the puppies are getting on and how big they've grown! ☺️

    • Little Owl, yes, that’s my very expensive leather reclining Chesterfield chair that I bought myself for my 70th birthday. Dogs not supposed to be on it! Hence the footstool in front, which is much too large and takes up half the floor space at that end of the room, but I must admit it does hold Indi, or the two boys, very easily if I put my legs each side to stop them falling off.

    • Thanks for asking, Little Owl. I'm OK. Obviously Em & Simon are in my thoughts all the time, but workwise I'm managing (with some help from May) and everything's under control.

    • Thanks Marie, I hope you are ok, it can be very stressful when you are worried about a colleague and also standing-in for them, Beth, the photos are lovely, they look so happy in the stream. Is that the lovely chair you had made? Watch you don't get trapped on the bed with them all lying on top of you!

    • They were all very good, hard to pick a favourite. Thank you B&M..

    • I liked the one on the chair too and the one on the tree, following mum.

    • All of the above. 😍

    • Loved the one on the chair, good woodland area for them to play & explore. Thanks Beth8it! & Marie.

    • Really good photos.

    • They do look very grown up now.

    • Great pics, they're loving life! Thanks both.

    • I love the one of Shadow on Beth's chair. If ever there was a guilty look!

  • Recieved yet another call from a mobile number, it was a recorded message, .. english woman saying "Your information needs to be updated, press 1 for English, or 2 for Chinese", Another is "Royal Mail, you have a parcel which could not be delivered, for more information press 1 for english, or 2 for...".

I discovered that if you press 1 for english a chinaman answers, so this time I pressed 2 & an englishman answered, they are the wrong way round & as soon as you speak they hang up. What's the point?

Next time if I don't get an explanation from them, & if he doesn;t hang up, I'll swear at the englidhman in english & the chinaman in Chinese.

    • I have a 2nd SIM card that I keep for incoming calls only, mostly from one place as I don't want them to have my number. I found you can get a SIM from Asda mobile which you top up, I forget if it's £5 or £10 minimum, then as long as you make a chargeable call or text every 180 days the number stays operational. I have just today sent a 10p text so it will last another six months. I did forget a while ago and got a message saying if I didn't it would be disconnected or something, I miscounted and it ran over so I called them but it was actually still okay. Safer to diarise it and send that one text.

    • There's not enough credit on my Asda PAYG mobile phone to call or txt out.

Edit: Just credited it with £5, but text seems not working properly.

    • I never press 1or 2, was told you can get connected to premium number costing a small fortune.

  • I would like to ask a question about how to get rid of nail fungus. 🤔

I have noticed there is a small opaque patch on my right big toe nail….I’m assuming to be nail fungus.

    • Tea tree oil. I use it for many things, works a treat, should be diluted with a carrier oil. I would suggest a couple of drops of tea tree oil in a 5ml spoon of almond oil.

    • I bared my toe to the pharmacist today and they advised me to see the Dr who may give me a nail polish of sorts. 🤔

      Thanks for replies everyone.

    • I had a very ugly fungal nail infection about 4 yrs ago. I spent a small fortune on various over the counter remedies to no avail, so eventually asked for help from my GP. He was quite reluctant to prescribe and explained that, in some cases, strong medication can cause liver problems. It got to the stage where my nails on my right foot were getting so bad that I could hardly get my shoe on, so he sent me for a blood test to check my liver (all ok) and prescribed Terbinafine 250mgs. It only took 5/6 weeks to clear up completely and has never returned.Phew!

      Hope this helps Tetleyt.

    • When my wife had the problem she used Vicks on it before telling me, which is a good treatment, but I researched the problem and found soaking your feet in equal parts of water and white vinegar was very good as it can get right into it better. As I'd bought some 5ltr bottles of vinegar online for cleaning it was perfect for us.

    • All my toenails have become crumbly and more recently my right thumbnail has gone the same way followed by another nail on the same hand with another starting to fail (cuticle detachment is the first sign). I showed my GP and scrapings were taken but the test results showed no infection. I have hypothyroidism and some history of anaemia - it seems that dry skin and crumbling nails can result from either of these.

    • I once dropped a really heavy box full of flat-pack furniture panels on my toe and I was only wearing carpet slippers *

The big toenail went purple and took years to grow out and it still wasn't right. Then I had a several hours swimming in the Mediterranean while on holiday in Turkey, the nail went soft and fell out and eventually a healthy one grew back and replaced it.

      * When I say 'only wearing carpet slippers,' I did have other clothes on, just nothing more substantial on the feet.

    • Our podiatrist always finishes our toenails with tea tree oil as a precaution, she said treat everyday and it works just as well as any expensive over the counter treatment.

    • Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated. 🙂

I’ve been diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia at Christmas time .I’ve Just been reading the bumf online that nail problems could be one of the signs. I’ll let the pharmacist have a wee look. 👍

    • There are an awful lot of ads for treatment appearing in my Google page - shall I forward them? 🙂

    • If it is at the top of the nail a pharmacy treatment will sort it.If it’s growing from the bottom you may need a fungal medication.

      A pharmacist can tell you.

    • A pharmacist or chemist will also be able to take a quick look & tell you what it is. Some know more than GP's

    • tetleyt, it could just be that you have dropped something on your toe at some point and the nail has been damaged. In this area, unless you are over 80 or have diabetes, you are unlikely to get a referral from the doctor for an NHS podiatrist. A regular podiatrist is quite reasonable - there are bound to be some near you and you will be seen quickly. Worth it just to have your toenails cut and the hard skin taken off your feet.

    • 😩😩😩

      Thanks for the advice.

    • Go to the doctor and ask for a podiatry referral. It needs treating before it gets out of hand if that's what it is. Basically, you apply a treatment to the nail, but it can take months. My advice is not to take any oral medicine for this. Very hard for medicines to get from your blood into the nail, so they need to be very strong and can be toxic for your liver. I have fungus on 4 toes on one foot. Looks terrible, but damage was done, I just have to live with it

  • N1PPY - where's Nigel?

I used to enjoy watching Nigel & Nippy do up their "A Place in France" on TV..

    • My first thought was Lyons Corner House.

  • Update on my new phone from Karachi. Tecno Pova slim. I was very happy with it, 5160mAh battery, less than 6mm thick, which is where it went wrong. Lying in bed last night heard a bang. Found it had slipped off the bedside table, spent the next half hour in all positions searching for it, then pulling out heavy storage boxes from under the bed. Then the wife walked in to see if I was okay and said "there's a full moon". Very funny😤. I haven't swapped the SIM over yet so couldn't call it but after googling I found a very clever idea android.com/find As long as it's on WiFi you can find it with no SIM, volume down, etc. It started to play a beautiful little song which had the name of the phone in the words. It will go on playing for five minutes, or until you stop it. I eventually found it wedged down the side of some small black tubs but it's so slim I hadn't been able to see it. My current phone is three times the thickness. I thought that's the last time I buy something so tiny. I do love it though and it charges unbelievably quickly 0-100% in 60 minutes.

    • Beth. Thanks for rubbing it in. About a year ago I won 10k on Premium Bonds and within a fortnight got a bill for 7k for underpinning. So that's already been done. I know you were joking but maybe I should think about losing weight when it's costing me that much.

    • Your'e so optimistic Beth8it! LOL

"For want of a slat, the house was lost".

    • Is your bedroom upstairs, Nick? Got good floor joists to take the extra weight of yourself and thicker slats? Or perhaps you should get some 6” x 2” at the same time and upgrade them too? And then, of course, your foundations may need underpinning and wall ties put in to stop spreading… just saying…😈

    • Enver. The only way that would be a good idea is if you take them from under the middle of the bed so no-one sees the hole. You could in theory use them from elsewhere but you need to put a rug over it then. I saw Frank Spencer do this a few week ago in a hotel room, ended up moving the wardrobe to try and cover the hole, and ripping various bits of carpet to cover places. It's not a good idea in your own house.🤣

    • Floorboards are good for slats too, & they can stop the cold from coming up through the mattress.

    • Anonymous. Taking the slats off was a good idea as the bit I didn't mention was trying to lift the top of the mattress and one foot on the slats to reach over I've broken a slat so have to replace it. It's a very solid chunky bed frame so I'm going to buy some timber and replace them all. 25mm instead of the current 17mm. The mattress weighs a ton and I do so 25mm slats should be better for a 2 ton weight.

    • 😂😂

    • I used the have the problem that one son stayed up late and the other went to bed early, making it difficult to find a window to do Christmas stockings. So I decided to set my phone alarm for some stupid time in the small hours, and put it under my pillow so it wouldn't wake anyone else up. Trouble was as I reached under to silence it, it fell down the head of the bed and lay out of reach pinging merrily away louder and louder, as I frantically hauled the mattress and bed slats off to get to it. Rather counterproductive!

    • Maybe a bit of de-cluttering around the bedside area would help?? 🤣🤣

    • Many years ago I had 2x credit card sized calculators, not much thicker either.... Dunno where they went.

  • Dogs can't work hospital equipment but cats can!!😜😜

    • Actually put a smile on my face, well done

    • 😂

    • :-) :-) :-)

    • Aye Nick name it's £500 for a catscan and £150 for the lab report!! 😜😜

    • I've heard this before but it's not totally accurate as some dogs can use Lab equipment.

    • 😂😂

  • As today is Star Wars Day, can I propose we rename in Trekker Day? 🙂🖖

    • April 5th is already significant as tax year-end.

    • Shall I just withdraw my comment? This is too complicated for me! 🙂

    • Star Trek Day is an annual informal commemorative day on September 8th, referencing the broadcast premiere of the original Star Trek series on that day in 1966, with the airing of "The Man Trap".

    • Not to be confused with World Contact Day, on 15th March: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Contact_Day

    • Hi Beth, there is a Star Trek Day, it's just not a pun like 'May the fourth'!

April the fifth is First Contact Day, the date when the Vulcans initiated First Contact with humanity following Zephram Cochrane's first warp flight in 2063.

In the Star Trek universe it's celebrated as a holiday, and in reality it's become a promotional event for the show(s). LLAP!

    • I know, but there isn’t another Star Trek Day!

    • @Beth8it! No. Because Star Wars and Star Trek are 2 different things 😈

Edit: Sorry JennieS, You posted when I was looking through the emojis lol

    • But it's not Star Trek day! 🤔

  • Just heard that someone may want Storm - friends of the lady who owns Yogi, the pups’ father, so at least it’s a ‘known’ person, not total stranger. Not getting too hopeful yet.

Three emails with photos sent to admin today. Not sure if admin will be back tomorrow or Tuesday, as it’s a bank holiday tomorrow.

    • Lovely pics, Thanks.

    • Sent now.

    • I’m sure there’s no hurry Marie.

    • In Hollywood Slots "🐶 - Wild - 🐶 - Wild - 🐶" is a big WIN,

Wild dogs couldn't drag us away.

    • I'll get the photos sent out once I'm up-to-date with the backlog from the long weekend.

    • I hope you keep posting the progress of Shadow and Poppy even after Storm has left.

    • ⬆️ Priceless! lol

    • There will plenty of contact - keeping Shadow, stepson has Poppy and she is here quite often, postie keeps me updated about Woody and we are going to meet up for a walk sometime, my friend is only 4 miles away with Ivy and we have been out with her, and if these people do have Storm he will be local, too. Only Saffie has gone away - sorry, Police Dog Saffie!.

Quick update - today the boys managed to scramble up onto the bed via the ottoman, so three labradors finally settling down for a snooze. Then Shad caught sight of another dog looking at him. He stared intently for about 30 seconds, then barked at it, but it barked at him too, so he decided it wasn’t safe, and went back to Storm. Dressing table mirrors are not to be trusted!

    • Dare say you'll miss them all, & wonder where you got the time for them.

    • It is hard work raising pups and dogs. I am tired just reading about it.

I was lucky that when my family were doing this I left things to my late wife who was, amongst other things, a veterinary nurse.

    • Omg…..I’m away for a snooze after that. 😴

    • Quick update today - I had Poppy for much of today - the initial bedlam of growling, play-fights and all getting hyper and manic was starting to get out of hand - poor Shadow stood up at the door of the pen and begged me to rescue him, so I let him out, he ran to Indi’s bed (she was on mine) and settled there, while Storm and Poppy got louder and more ratty with each other. In the end, when they wouldn’t stop or listen to me, I picked up my slipper and whacked the side of the pen - two puppies did a vertical leap backwards, huddled together and looked totally shocked. ‘Right, that’s enough,’ I said sternly. ‘You - lie down here, you - lie down there, be quiet and go to sleep. NOW!’ So they did. Snuggled up together, all squabbling forgotten. Peace. Shad went to sleep too. At lunchtime we went through the woods and out to the pond - Poppy’s first time and she was ecstatic - hurtled right round the pond with the boys racing after her, then they all went bounding in and rolled her over, jumped on each other, raced in and out, generally wore themselves out. Back home, dried off and fed, then into their pen about 1pm. They woke up 4pm. Poppy went about 5pm, and the boys didn’t need another walk, so just a five-minute stroll on the green and back indoors. Nice and quiet this evening.

    • As tetleyt said Beth...

    • How nice to have them all spoken for 🤞

Looking forward to seeing the next instalment of photos. 😁

  • My girlfriend isn't talking to me.

She hinted that she wanted to walk down the aisle.

She was raging when I took her to Tesco!! 😜😜

    • 🤣🤣

    • 😁

    • Another good one I'm passing on, Thanks!

Someone will be shopping👱‍♀️🛒👱‍♂️ for a new partner?

    • Very good.

Must remember that just in case it might come in useful.

    • 🤣

    • :-) :-)

    • 🤣😂

    • 🤣

    • Oh boy! 🙂

  • Has anyone managed to enter the tea bag prize draw? Every time I try there is an error

    • The chance to win the PG Tips is offered through Magic Freebies, who we are affiliated with. It works fine when I test it. Anonymous, if it continues to happen, please can you send us a screenshot of the error message you get to admin@pickmypostcode.com so that we can advise further.

    • Yes, been on my bonus page for a while now.

    • As I mentioned the last time this was posted, it is a link to a prize draw offer on Magic Freebies which is a genuine site. The offer is on the PMP bonus page.

    • I don't ring tea either CS. Or coffee 😅

    • When I tried it a few weeks ago it took me into a gambling site...

    • It’s on my Main Draw , win a massive box of PG Tips 😊

    • Thanks Jennie, I haven't seen that one.

Update: Silly thought, wonder if it's because I don't drink tea? Can't even stand the smell!

    • I's the first one on the bonus draw page for me, so not a google ad. Win a box of 400 pg tips. It's connected to Magic Freebies. I didn't have a problem with it though.

    • Is this a Google ad which should be ignored as misleading or scam?

Had a look through the PMP offers, can't see anything like that.
