Be reasonable, the poor orange one is so busy starting wars so that he can resolve them, and failing miserably, that he hasn’t got time to make money in his Empire - he has to find some way of subsidising all his family and hangers-on. Nothing more ironic than giving a Peace Prize to the man responsible for slaughtering families in Iran! It was a consolation for being cheated out of the Nobel Peace Prize that he expected to be awarded. Letting the Trump family get their fingers into the FIFA $billions is the height of folly.

Puppy Lessons update.:
This morning, having been up watching nothing much on TV until 2.15am, I let the pups out when they woke at 5am, made a coffee and thought, right, time for a nice lie-in. Had to get up twice, when they started squabbling over a tin plant holder that they both wanted to bring indoors., settling that by putting it by the door and banning them both, then again when Storm brought a big stone (his favourite, with a fossil on the top) and started crunching it on the bed. Evicted the stone, finally got them to settle again and finished my coffee, managing an hour or so before realising ‘holy whatever, it’s 7.15 and we have classes at 10am’. I got up, carted them and Indi out for a nice walk in the woods, fed them and grabbed another coffee and breakfast for myself. By the time I had got the things ready for class it was gone 9.30, so the poor little boys had no time for a rest before we went out again. They were very quiet in class, happy to lie down in the shade in between doing the training exercises. Today was Controlled Socialising, meeting the other pups without getting wound up, too physical eg climbing all over each other, and coming away when called. Storm was doing his ‘big silent macho’ thing, not aggressive at all but just let the little pups say hello before lying down again. Shadow was more outgoing, talked with the neighbouring puppy and the trainer’s Staffie, lots of waggy tails and sniffing, but I was surprised that Storm didn’t come boring in to ‘protect’ his brother, as he usually does. He just shrugged and said ‘Can’t be bothered.’ At least he is getting better at going out in the car now. It’s only 2 miles to classes, but yesterday we had about half an hour drive round (on half an Avomine) with no problems. Next time I want to go a bit further - maybe do an hour ir so.

The recent trial, conviction and sentencing of a corrupt funeral director from Hull (I won't mention his name, he no longer deserves that dignity) has highlighted the fact that the funeral 'industry' exists in an unregulated environment. And, not surprisingly, this has resulted in calls for this to change so that the public is protected from rogue operators.
But, in recent years, the wider consensus has been that there is too much 'red tape' governing businesses and this is stifling growth, and the public has swallowed this myth and - despite in general knowing little about what this 'red tape' is - has supported calls by politicians to 'cut through it.'
As recently as last November - AFTER the funeral director had pleaded guilty and the extent of his crimes became known - Nigel Farage lent his weight to this campaign: "Mr Farage said, as he vowed to cut red tape and regulation for business owners who are "literally living in fear about the inspector walking through the door"."

The events in Hull should be a stark reminder of why we need regulation and inspection of businesses and why the hated 'red tape' of planning permission, public appeals, and enforceable rules governing the way business works are essential to safeguard the public. We would no longer question the wisdom of DBS checks on those coming into contact with children, nor of the need for allergens to be listed clearly on foods, or even of the enforcement of Weights and Measures laws. All of these are examples of red tape that control how businesses operate. Measures that Mr. Farage and others would like to see scrapped.
So let's stop this pretence that businesses should be freed from regulation and inspection and recognise that rules are there to protect the rest of us, and that some businesses, if outside of a regulated system, would and indeed do exploit customers, as has been demonstrated only too vividly in the events in Hull.

@A Nick Name - I agree that advance notice of an inspection does allow an operator to improve standards at least for that day, but plenty of inspections do take place without warning (the HSE can walk into any business at any time without giving notice, to give just one example).
Licensing would not, on its own, stop anything. But coupled with inspections and the potential loss of a licence, it can only help to improve standards. We still have shops that will sell knives, drink or tobacco to children, but they know that if they are caught - and 'sting' operations do take place frequently - they will be in a spot of bother, just as having a driving licence doesn't stop a person from driving badly but it does make it easier to deal with it if s/he is caught.
The alternative is to do nothing, and to me that is the least attractive option. And, in truth, I haven';t heard any funeral directors speak out against regulating the industry, which suggests that many would welcome accreditation as a way of developing public confidence in their businesses.

I agree with what's been said, but on the News this morning, someone said, they should all be licensed and it would be so simple to do that, it could be done immediately. Despite being involved I think she's totally missed the point. Licensing doesn't actually stop anything. Neither do inspections, as they are generally made aware of an inspection before arrival. Any and all companies that need to be licensed or inspected should not know in advance that it's going to happen.

If somebody wants to set up a business, let’s say to develop a hobby, or fulfil a lifetime dream, they look into renting premises, or rules regarding working from home (food prep, machine operating hours etc). They don’t demand that the rules are scrapped because they’re an inconvenience. Thank God that the British are a relatively placid, law-abiding sort of people, who are reassured and comfortable with rules and regs. We know we have rights but we also know we have obligations. There will always be law-breakers, but we are NOT a nation looking to rebel and live in anarchy, and any politician claiming to speak for us, and say that we do, will not get very far. Mr Farage had better learn that fast, and rein his neck in.

I used to work for a process and rules driven company and each person was empowered to call out anything which was wrong without fear of reprisal. Companies which cover things up always have the worst health & safety record and total disregard for the welfare of their employees. This is why we need rules and regulations. When the funeral story first broke I thought it might have been because they were overwhelmed and didn't know who to turn to. Obviously, that was not the case, but I can't help wondering why there is no helpline or support group for funeral directors as many were driven to despair during Covid.

I agree with what's been said, but on the News this morning, someone said, they should all be licensed and it would be so simple to do that, it could be done immediately. Despite being involved I think she's totally missed the point. Licensing doesn't actually stop anything. Neither do inspections, as they are generally made aware of an inspection before arrival. Any and all companies that need to be licensed or inspected should not know in advance that it's going to happen.

I agree with what has been said but I've dealt with a couple of dozen funeral companies & all appeared to know each other within their local area & all work to the same standard which is why I thought they were governed by rules.

If somebody wants to set up a business, let’s say to develop a hobby, or fulfil a lifetime dream, they look into renting premises, or rules regarding working from home (food prep, machine operating hours etc). They don’t demand that the rules are scrapped because they’re an inconvenience. Thank God that the British are a relatively placid, law-abiding sort of people, who are reassured and comfortable with rules and regs. We know we have rights but we also know we have obligations. There will always be law-breakers, but we are NOT a nation looking to rebel and live in anarchy, and any politician claiming to speak for us, and say that we do, will not get very far. Mr Farage had better learn that fast, and rein his neck in.

Well said, Chris. The term "red tape" is a scurrilous misnomer to colour the regulations and safety protocols in business as some kind of evil, unnecessary burden when they are, in fact, there to protect both workers and the public - two things that Nige could not care less about.

I used to work for a process and rules driven company and each person was empowered to call out anything which was wrong without fear of reprisal. Companies which cover things up always have the worst health & safety record and total disregard for the welfare of their employees. This is why we need rules and regulations. When the funeral story first broke I thought it might have been because they were overwhelmed and didn't know who to turn to. Obviously, that was not the case, but I can't help wondering why there is no helpline or support group for funeral directors as many were driven to despair during Covid.

I joined just a few weeks after PMP started, after reading about it on Martin's Money Tips. I finally had a nice win not long ago. Some people have won soon after joining. Some have won more than once. It's the luck of the draw.

I actually won the day after my birthday in May. Over £3k. I couldn't believe it. A couple of days later the money was in my bank account. I had been completing surveys since 2017. It was definitely worth the wait. So no it is not a scam and it does pay out.

@Leensean26 - I don't know anyone who has won the EuroMillions, or the National Lottery jackpot, or the million pounds draw on the Premium Bonds. I have held some Premium Bonds for over sixty years and they have never won a penny. Are the National Lottery, EuroMillions and Premium Bonds all scams as well?
And, just out of interest, exactly what are you being 'scammed' out of (he said, ending with a preposition, which is something you should never end a sentence with ...) ?
