Improving ad quality while keeping your identity safe

Enhanced recognition helps our partners give you a more customised ad experience on Pick My Postcode, across the web, and across your devices.

It does this by sharing a unique identifier with carefully chosen partners, without revealing anything private, like your name, email address or postcode.

This allows our partners and advertisers to process data from a wide variety of sources to help show you more relevant advertising and better understand how the adverts on the website are performing.

Benefits

Advertisers value personalised adverts over basic adverts because they are likely to be more relevant to you. This makes a greater contribution to our daily prizes and helps us limit the number of adverts we need to show our members.

Most adverts are personalised through temporary identifiers, such as third-party cookies, which are being phased out, or IP addresses, This may make it difficult for you to enforce your data rights, especially in cases where the identifier has been lost through the deletion of cookies or a change in your IP address by your internet service provider.

Enhanced recognition solves this problem as the unique identifier can be regenerated if deleted and can easily be verified by a data controller when enforcing your data rights.

What we will need to share:

  • A unique identifier associated to your account. Depending on our partner this may be generated at random, or be based on a hashed and de-identified version of your email address
  • Your IP address and other technical information shared automatically through your browser when adverts are displayed, such as the page you are visiting

What we won't share:

  • Your name
  • Your actual email address (so none of our partners will be able to email you)
  • Your postcode
  • Your account or survey data

FAQ

Why can't I click on the button to participate or opt-out?
The buttons representing your current settings will be disabled, so if you previously agreed to participate, no change is necessary to continue participating. The same goes for opting-out.
Why was I already opted-in?
We started working with LiveRamp in 2020, so you may have previously opted-in to working with them through this popup or through the account page. This page replaces the popup so we can provide you with a better explanation of how things work and helpful things like this FAQ.
Can I choose which of your partners I'm happy to work with?
Yes, you can change which of the partners you're happy to work with at any time by adjusting your advertising preferences in our consent tool. These preferences are stored in your browser, so you may need to adjust them again when using a different device.
How will I know when new partners are added?
When a new partner is added to the website, you'll receive a notification on your next visit. The new partner's details will be added to the list below so you can check out their details and opt-out if you wish.
How can I enforce my data rights with your partners?
All our enhanced recognition partners are listed below. You can enforce your data rights by following the links to their data portals.

Publisher Advertiser Identity Reconciliation

Google's description of PAIR:

Publisher Advertiser Identity Reconciliation, or PAIR, is a new solution that gives publishers and advertisers the option to securely and privately reconcile their first-party data for audiences who have visited both an advertiser's and a publisher's site.

Consumers prefer relevant ads, but they don't want them to come at the cost of their privacy. With PAIR, advertisers will be able to run relevant ads to their first-party audiences — like past purchasers and people on their loyalty lists — without relying on third-party cookies. PAIR can be used to engage with existing customers or cart-abandoners, and prevent consumers from seeing ads for a product they already purchased.
