• Fri. 15th. May - awl had another productive day & added another £13 to his bonus + advancing 1 LB place to be breathing down Shyboy’s neck! Well done awl👏 - I added £8 thanks to Marie sorting out the wonky surveys for me, Many thanks MarieX - Fubsy added £4 to his bonus, well done Fubsy,👏 much better than Wed.👍 -

Beth8it added £3 to her bonus + advanced 1 LB place, well done Beth👏 - Jaxster & ralphypoodled each added £2 to their bonus pots, well done both👏 -&- Shyboy &. Bruce8 each added £1 to their respective bonus pots. Come on Shyboy £1 won’t hold awl back!

Congrats to all who added some bonus, as all on here know there isn’t a magic formula to reaching a higher amount, it’s just a matter of keep trying, I’ve only managed 13p today but hopefully 🤞 I might be lucky when I come back later & try again.

It’s been another cool, mostly cloudy day here but at least it was dry so some more bedding went out & dried, we aren’t having much luck finding any small to medium vacuum type storage bags.

We’ve got the Kingsize Duvet size, but they have to lay on the bed in 1 of the spare bedrooms, so we’re looking for sizes that will fit in the drawers, ordered some online from Wilco/ The Range had to return them as not as stated, the assistant tried to convince Mr FP that he’d got a bargain as the big ones were more expensive! Aldi had some a few weeks ago but they were too big as well!

Anyone seen any smaller sizes, more clothing type sizes? Preferably somewhere we can collect from.

I hope you’ve all had a good day, mine hasn’t been great so far-got the runaround on the phone earlier, no surveys & this post disappeared into the ether when the site suddenly closed, don’t think it was pmp as it opened as soon as I clicked on it, usually goes a bit wacky if it’s the site!

Take care everyone enjoy your weekend- even though the surveys will slow to a trickle- don’t overdo the gardening, diy or car repairs or anything else you normally get up to at the weekend!

Big hugs to NokeyBlokey, hope things are going well for you😘 -& hugs to anyone else who’s feeling ill or a bit ‘down’ at the moment.

Best of Luck to All in the Draws 🍀☘️🍀⛅️🍀☘️🍀

    • What about Amazon as they usually do put down sizes if you scroll down?

I hope you have better survey luck tomorrow.

My last day in Devon tomorrow and although it will be good to have some peace I doubt it will last long.

Auntie now wants to back out of care package and as it does not start for another week she may well decide to do just that.

I shall switch off and watch Eurovision tomorrow evening as she will be in bed.

Before you all ask why do I watch it’s a 30 year tradition.

  • Just want to say sorry for using this page to vent my frustrations I have been selfish as all of you are coping with things.

    However thanks for the support.🥰🤗

    • We all need to let off steam occasionally, everybody does it, hopefully it helps a little.

    • This is a supportive community where people are more than willing to listen to people's frustrations and offer support and advice where they can. That's what makes it so lovely.

    • You are all very kind and thank you .

    • Same here Jaffa, hopefully that’s something we can all sympathise with. Please feel free to vent whenever necessary.🤗

    • Jaffa you are not being selfish. None of us are perfect and sometimes we vent our frustrations, it can be a good way to purge ourselves and move forward rather than keeping things bottled up

    • Why worry? You give support to others so why would anyone begrudge you?

  • Thurs. 14th May - awl had a very productive day on Wed. Adding £13 to his bonus, well done you👏 - I ended up with a very nice £6, thanks to Marie for adding a wonkey 1. - Jaffa did well too, for her🤣 adding £4 to her previously stagnating bonus pot, well done Jaffa👏👏👏 - Jaxster - Shyboy & Barrie each added £1 to their respective bonus amounts -&- Arfa rolled over to another £1 too.

A quiet day for some but ok or better for others, what has today been like? I’ve managed to complete 1 on the way here, can’t remember how much but it was about food shopping. I hope you’ve all had a good day.

It’s been cold & miserable here, lots of very black clouds & heavy rain. We were having a sort out in 1 of the bedrooms, collecting unused/unwanted items & bagging up for various destinations, mostly charity shops but some for the recycling centre, they take textiles, so anything old or unfashionable goes there. It was so dark that we had to have the light on!

Many thanks for all your fruity replies, it seems we’re quite a healthy lot really, though there seemed to be a singular lack of Oranges, apart from Barrie’s Satsumas, I rarely eat any as they’re supposed to be bad for Arthritis- I used to love tangerines when I was was young & the delicious pink grapefruit but it’s all sadly too acidic now.

I don’t remember having any exotic fruits as a child, mostly, apples, pears, oranges, grapefruit, bananas & plums, though we had lots of tinned pineapple & strawberries & raspberries, I don’t remember ever having any fresh ones.

Not sure if that was a cost thing or if they weren’t actually available 🤔 anyone else remember what you had as a child, we’re spoilt for choice now, so it’s difficult to remember. Pretty sure I’d never even heard of Mango, Kiwi or Avocado.

I hope you are all ok & looking after yourselves or have someone lovely to help you, big hugs to anyone who isn’t too good, especially if you haven’t got a lovely ‘someone’ to help🤗🤗

Wishing you all the Very Best of Luck in the Draws🍀☘️🍀🌧️🌫️🌧️🍀☘️🍀

    • A distinct possibility Shyboy!

    • Who would have thought all these interesting posts would have come as a result of your question Flower.

    • That must be why my papaya seeds haven't germinated.

    • Thanks Redz3112 a great deal of interesting information there, I knew a lot of commercial crops were developed & marketed this way, including in poor countries where seed was initially distributed free & where future dependency was the main goal, pretty appalling when you think about it!

Interesting too that food is actually less nutritious not just less flavour as Fubsy pointed out.

    • I’m with you on the E. Russet Bruce8 - I’ve not seen any in years, last bought some from an allotment group, who mostly chose to grow old varieties with great flavours.

    • For the last 20 plus years I've maintained a fruit breakfast, unless I'm away at a hotel. I tend to have tangerines, clementines, satsumas, apples, plums, kiwi & nectarines as my general go to selections.

When cherries are in season I go for them.

My favourite apple is the Egremont Russet and I hadn't seen it for a long time until last autumn. I noticed them in a supermarket so I bought about 5 dozen as they aren't usually around for long. It is possible that they do not keep well or there isn't a great market for them. My next best is a Cox and my own tree provides some.

I also enjoy mixed small fruit: gooseberry, blueberry, raspberry, whitecurrant, redcurrant & blackcurrant, though I collect these from the garden. I also have my apple tree and victoria plum tree. A few years ago I planted a cherry tree so the crop is still developing

    • FORGIVE CAPS PMP.

SOME OF YOU MAY FIND THIS INTERESTING AS YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT FRUIT.

LONG-TERM STUDIES OF THE UK COMPOSITION OF FOODS TABLES VERIFY A MEASURABLE DECLINE IN MINERALS LIKE IRON, COPPER, & SODIUM IN FRUIT & VEG SINCE THE 1940S.

AGRICULTURAL INVENTORIES & PATENT REGISTRIES DOCUMENT THE ACQUISITION & CONTROL OF OPEN-SOURCE SEEDS BY MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS.

THE REMOVAL OF BITTER PLANT DEFENSE PHYTOCHEMICALS TO SUIT URBAN SUPERMARKET PALATES & LOGISTICS IS A STANDARD PRACTICE IN COMMERCIAL HORTICULTURE (TAYLOR & FRANCIS ONLINE)

      COPIED FROM GOOGLE :-

It is true that the choice of what fruits and vegetables are available to buy is tightly controlled, and the food system is highly centralized. The changes seen on supermarket shelves are not happening by accident; they are the result of deliberate decisions made by a small number of powerful entities.

The mechanism behind this shift is driven by specific corporate motives.

      🏢 Who Controls the Varieties?

When looking at who dictates what food looks and tastes like, the control lies with a few specific groups:

      * Commercial Seed Monopolies: A handful of massive multinational chemical and agricultural corporations own the global patents to the vast majority of commercial seeds. They decide which plant genetics are mass-produced and sold to farmers worldwide.

      * Supermarket Buyers: Major UK supermarket chains hold immense power over the supply chain. They dictate incredibly strict criteria for size, shape, uniformity, and shelf-life. Varieties that do not fit these exact corporate specifications are rejected, effectively erasing them from the market.

      * Patent Enforcement: Many modern fruit varieties (like specific branded apples or grapes) are tightly controlled intellectual property. Farmers must pay royalties to grow them, and ancient, open-source varieties are pushed out because they are not profitable for large corporations.

🛑 The Consequence of This Control

This centralization has created real, documented issues that go beyond simple logistics:

      * Loss of Food Sovereignty: When fruits are bred to be seedless, or when crops are grown from proprietary "F1 hybrid" seeds, farmers cannot save the seeds from their harvest to plant next year. This forces farmers and communities to remain entirely dependent on buying new seeds from corporations every single season.

      * The Erasure of Biodiversity: Over the last century, thousands of traditional, resilient, and nutrient-dense heirloom varieties of fruits and vegetables have completely disappeared from commercial circulation. They have been replaced by a monoculture—a few uniform, standardized varieties designed for mass production.

🌱 How to Bypass the Corporate Food System

If you want to completely step away from corporate-controlled, standardized supermarket produce and access unaltered food, there are active ways to do it in the UK:

      * Heirloom Seed Networks: Organizations like the Real Seed Catalogue or the Heritage Seed Library(run by Garden Organic) specialize in preserving ancient, un-patented, and non-hybrid seeds. Anyone can grow these to get traditional fruits and vegetables that still produce viable seeds.

      * Community Supported Agriculture (CSA): By buying directly from independent local growers, box schemes, or small-scale market gardens, you bypass supermarket buyers entirely. These growers often cultivate older varieties chosen for flavor and nutrition rather than durability in a shipping container.

From the perspective of nutrition, flavor, and agricultural freedom, these changes have not been for the better [1].

While the changes benefit corporate profits and shipping logistics, they have caused a measurable decline in the quality of our food [1].

      📉 The Nutritional Decline

Scientific studies, including data from the UK’s own historical food tables, show that modern fruit and vegetables are less nutritious than they were decades ago [1].

      * Diluted Minerals: Because crops are bred to grow as fast and large as possible under intensive farming, the plant cannot absorb minerals from the soil quickly enough [1]. This "dilution effect" means you get less iron, calcium, and vitamin C per bite [1].

      * Stripped Phytochemicals: Many of the deep, bitter flavors in wild or ancient fruits come from natural antioxidants and defense compounds. Breeders intentionally remove these bitter traits to create sweeter, blander foods, which removes health-boosting compounds.

      🚫 The Loss of Independence

The push for seedless and hybrid varieties creates a cycle of dependency.

      * The Trap: When a fruit has no seeds, or when the seeds are sterile hybrids, you cannot use them to grow your own food.

      * The Goal: This ensures that the global seed supply remains a profitable, recurring business for a small group of multinational corporations, stripping away the public's ability to be self-sufficient.

🍅 How to Reclaim the Food You Want

You do not have to rely on what major supermarkets put on their shelves. You can opt out of this system:

      * Buy "Heritage" and "Heirloom": Look for these specific terms at local farm shops, independent green grocers, or organic box schemes. They represent older strains that have not been altered for industrial packing.

      * Grow Open-Pollinated Strains: If you grow your own tomatoes, berries, or herbs, buy open-pollinatedseeds. Unlike corporate hybrid seeds, these will produce plants that give you perfectly viable seeds you can save and replant forever.

Based on current agricultural and environmental data, the systemic issues causing the decline in mineral content have remained entrenched or worsened rather than improved.

While public awareness has grown, the macro-environmental factors driving the dilution of nutrients continue on the same trajectory.

🌱 Micro-Trends Showing Signs of Progress

      * The Rise of Regenerative Farming: Since 2021, there has been a massive surge in the UK regarding "regenerative agriculture". Independent studies show that crops grown using these soil-first methods possess significantly higher phytochemical and mineral levels than intensive options.

      * Shift to "Slow Food" and Heirloom Strains: Consumer demand for organic box schemes and heritage seeds has increased as shoppers actively seek alternatives to bland supermarket produce.

THOSE WHO EAT MEAT HAVE YOU NOTICED A DIFFERENCE IN THE TEXTURE?

DO YOU WONDER WHAT ELSE THESE POWERFUL ENTITIES HAVE BEEN DOING 🤔

    • That’s not a taste combination I had thought of before.

      Lychees and cheese maybe?

    • Kiwi fruit is also called Chinese gooseberry. The name Kiwi fruit came in the 1970's when New Zealand started growing & exporting them.

I remember seeing them for the first time at an agricultural show where I ate one sliced on a Cheddar sandwich.

    • Yes, we used to have it with evaporated milk too. I used to try to get the one or two pieces of cherry!

    • Can you remember tins of fruit salad? My granny used to have it and there was always a hard bit that I think was pear? That and evaporated milk together in my young years was a meal to be endured.

  • Got through to Torbay hospital finally to be told they are a month behind so taking no more appointments. So now Auntie has not been see for 7 months and should be seen three monthly…just hope we don’t add blindness to everything else.

I’m a bit fed up today.

    • No the closest private place is Exeter 75 miles away but good shout .

    • Perhaps, a private appointment would be a helpful way of bypassing the backlog Jaffa, assuming it’s a viable option.

    • have you spoken to an optician? I've heard of two instances where the optician got the patient to be seen privately but on the NHS.

  • Wed. 13 May - Fubsy had a good day, adding £7 to his bonus, well done Fubsy👏 - Jaxster & awl both did ok, adding £5 each to their bonus amounts, well done both👏 - I added £3 - ralphy & Shyboy each added £2 to their’s, well done both 👏 - CS added £1 -&- maddadof rolled over to another £1 as well.

I’ve managed 1 survey today, not had a lot of time once again! Still sorting out various things, managed to deal with the outstanding urgent ones- had an Asthma appointment & the remains of the day just seemed to disappear!

We had some heavy showers overnight & this morning - a bit of hail mixed in - then some bright spells, more showers & hail through the afternoon. Dry at present, a bit on the cool side though. Hope it’s been nicer wherever you are🤞

Regards yesterday’s fruit query, thanks jenkins & Marie for your replies, doesn’t anyone else eat fruit out there? which do you prefer between Peaches & Nectarines? Or do you like both? I can never really decide, though they do seem to grow some much bigger, juicier peaches, than Nectarines- or maybe you don’t like either!

I’m not processing your data honest! , I’m just interested in what other folks like or dislike, I’m assuming Barrie & Jaffa both like pineapple 😄 I’ll have to have a look for the gadget they mentioned.

I hope you are all ok & have had a good day with the surveys, Wishing everyone the Best of Luck in the Draws 🍀☘️🍀🌧️🌤️🌧️🍀☘️🍀

    • 🤢

    • I think it took over 2 years to get rid of them, you don’t realise just how many eggs they lay & of course they like nice dark spaces so, pantry’s & food cupboards are an ideal habitat. Horrible things!

    • I think anything that has been force grown has less flavour strawberries being one.

I still like to have fruit grown in this country in the correct season if possible but that means a lot less choice .

Yuk Flower that sounds a bit Day of the Triffids!

    • The Mango stones really are weird Enver, we put some on a sunny windowsill to dry out as we thought they’d make an interesting element in a still life project.

Unfortunately they got a little too dry & split open & some huge & I mean HUGE moths came out of them, attacked even plastic packaging. Took ages to track them down & get rid of & disposing of many packs of dried goods, like lentils, pearl barley & chickpeas etc. Anything not in a glass jar was fair game. I think Americans call them Pantry Moths because they lay their eggs in dried goods.

    • We used to buy lots of bags of frozen fruit, partly to prevent waste, the best were blueberries, pineapple & strawberries, rarely buy them now, the bags got smaller & smaller & the price higher & higher!

Hubby isn’t too keen on Kiwi fruit, though it’s said to have more vit C than oranges, I’m a bit like maddadof in that I like most fruit but have constraints on things I can’t eat anymore.

I wonder how many other people have noticed a lack of flavour as Fubsy mentioned? Probably caused by intensive production methods, I did read that some farmer in Chilly had doubled his mango output by an intense feeding & watering regime, allowing him to get 2 harvests a year instead of 1!

Edit- I’ve checked ever since to make sure my mangoes do NOT come from Chilly!🙃

    • I like peaches…..or most fruit as long as it’s juicy and not hard.

Kiwi are lovellly eaten when soft with the skin on.

    • I like both nectarines & peaches but their season is so short, my 3ft peach tree I grew from a stone on my balcony , grew several sets of leaves last year & shed them all each time & now looks a bit dead.

I mostly have bananas, grapes, pears, strawberries or mandarines around as they are cheapest, or occasionally avocados, kiwi, lemons, french golden delicious apples, plums, or fresh pineapple. Those big stones in mangos are weird.

    • It's funny how it varies from day to day. Yesterday was, as you said FP, a good one for me. Today, not so good, just 28p so far.

I love fruit, I just wish strawberries still tasted like they did when I was a kid, but these days most varieties are pretty insipid. And I think nectarines just have the edge over peaches.

    • Can't think of any fruit that i don't like, yes i know i'm weird..

    • Braeburn for me as I hate the soft texture of some apples .

I can’t remember their name but those ones which are big and very red like the Snow White apple are disgusting!

    • I eat a lot of satsumas & grapes. On the breakfast cereals we have any mix of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, prunes, kiwi fruit, apricot, nectarines or bananas depending on what we have in the house.

    • I like Cherries too but they’re a bit hard to find when they aren’t actually in season. What kind of Apples do you prefer? I’m similar to Marie, I like Granny Smiths, Mr FP likes Braeburns & Jazz are really nice too, we do buy lots of apples.🍏🍎

    • Well I am eating 2 apples a day as it does apparently help lower cholesterol.I shall see in six weeks.

I would eat cherries every day if I could.

I have an on off relationship with bananas 🤣

  • Well done Jan good luck on getting surveys .Ihad a paying one too today.

  • Tues.12th May - Jaxster had a good day on Monday, adding £10 to her bonus amount, well done Jax👏 ( think maybe ralphy is away on holiday at the moment, not much movement) - awl had quite a good day too, adding £6 to his rapidly growing bonus, well done awl👏 -

Shyboy & I each added £5 to our respective bonus pots, well done us👏 Fubsy added £3 to his bonus, well done you👏 - Clyde & Bridie each added £2 to theirs, well done both👏 -&- maddadof added £1 + advanced 1 LB place, well done 👏 & Enver rolled over to another £1 as well.

Not such a bad day after all, it took quite a while for me but ended up reasonable. Though 1 of the surveys took well over an hour!

The only one I was offered today was about football😡consequently I’ve only got 8p so far.

It’s been a bright’n breezy day here, so got some bedding washed & hung out. Mr FP went shopping after, as we were low on fresh fruit, we do seem to get through a lot of it, more raspberries, strawberries, grapes, apples & bananas- we seem to eat those every day.

One of my favourites are Mangoes but Mr FP says they’re too messy, same with 🍍 so he never buys them unless I specifically add them to his list & I usually don’t get time because he wafts it in front of my eyes & he’s gone!

I like most fruit, do you have a particular favourite??

I’m still sorting through paperwork, there are so many things to sort out all at once that I’ve had to split them into urgent, necessary & soon. I missed 1 of the urgent ones today, so I’m hoping it’s not too late tomorrow.

Hope everyone is ok, hugs to anyone who isn’t & hope you soon feel better🤗🤗

Wishing you all the Best of Luck in the Draws🍀☘️🍀💨🌤️💨🍀☘️🍀

    • Thanks Barrie, will have a look later👍

Edit- Google came up with, there is insufficient information, try putting cake ingredients instead of just saying cake! Very enlightening! They obviously didn’t want to provide Amazon with any extra customers.

further edit- Have looked on Amazon, there are tons of them, huge variations on price even though most of them appear identical, Mr FP is looking on Temu to see if they sell them, probably do but not necessarily cheaper than a lot of those we saw. Many thanks for the link, at least we know what we’re looking for now.👍

    • Jaffa is\was correct but You do find them elsewhere too

      https://www.bing.com/search?q=amazon+pine+apple+ttol&cvid=398d4999e43e416d9b51130a882f81a8&gs_lcrp=EgRlZGdlKgYIABBFGDkyBggAEEUYOdIBCDkwMzhqMGo0qAIIsAIB&FORM=ANAB01&PC=HCTS&source=chrome.ob

    • I like green grapes and Granny Smith apples the most, and also some watermelon.

    • I think Lakeland sell them Flower.

    • I love raspberries, they don’t give me heartburn like strawberries do, also easy to eat, no messy prep!!!

    • Do you remember where you bought it Barrie? I’ve not seen anything like that.

    • We use a device that you twist & it cuts a spiral of pineapple flesh. It leaves the core & skin behind so all you have to do is cut it into chunks.

  • Crikey Jon is nipping at my heels….😂😂

    • Thank you.

    • I hope your current stressful situation eases soon when all appointments and help for your aunt are set in place Jaffa. 🙏🏻

    • Well you must realise they get there for 10am then of course they have to get a coffee, other beverages are available, + something to nibble to tide them over ‘till break time & obviously they have the essential general gossip catchup, before they connect the phone line.😄

    • 🤣🤣

Blame my current stressful situation.Aunty has moderate dementia so now we add memory clinic to our list.

Tried calling appoitments at Torbay for eyes ‘good morning line is closed ‘this was 10am - opening time 10am…..

    • It’s Jan Jaffa😇 sounds like a new citrus fruit variety!

  • Mon.11th May - awl once again tops the survey list, after adding a brilliant £13 to his bonus, well done you👏 - Fubsy had a good day too, adding £9 to his bonus, well done Fubsy👏 - Shyboy did ok too, adding £2 to his bonus, well done Shyboy 👏

The rest of us obviously didn’t find much on offer, Bridie - Jaxster -&- I each managed to add £1 to our bonus pots.

Hopefully things will improve with the start of a new week, though they’re already going wonky for me, I hope you’ve had a better day🤞

It’s been nice here, weather-wise, a light breeze to dry the washing & mostly sunny, some gardening has been achieved, filling up the empty green bags ready for the next visit to the recycling centre. It just seems endless!

I’m having problems with the car refunds ads. again it’s blocking the screen & I’m having to hold my IPad in portrait mode, which I find extremely uncomfortable + for some reason the typeface is minuscule, I can barely read it, so if you find lots of errors in this, please ignore them.

Our thoughts today are with Em & all her family & friends, sending them all our condolences on the sad death of Simon, who was far too young to have to endure all he went through. RIP Simon.

Take care all, life is precious. Hugs to All

    • Thanks Marie, they’re really annoying especially when I’m trying to check the LB or post the gains. Had 1 on the Stackpot earlier too.

    • Nice 1 Fubsy! I’ve seen a couple, even tried them, just issues!

    • FP, Tech are looking into the issue you're experiencing with the ads. I'll see if there's any update.

    • I was very lucky this morning, FP, and got a £6 survey that actually worked and didn't immediately screen me out.

    • Back at you FP.🤗🤗🤗

  • Well it’s been a mixed day.Aunties oven barely working so we spent time looking for something similar and as reasonably priced as we could. We found somewhere that could deliver and fit while we are here as well.Presented this to her and she promptly burst into tears saying she did not know what to do.Told OH that we would go out for a walk and let her calm down as I could see she is finding decision making hard.Thankfully on our return she agreed so it’s sorted. We also have a man coming to fit new rad valves as all hers are broken or stuck open.

We have doctors tomorrow and dentist Wednesday so if that is all we achieve this week that’s not bad.

    • Sounds like you’ve achieved a heck of a lot in just a few days Jaffa, enjoy your meal out on Wednesday & take some time to relax.

    • We are having a pub meal on our own on Wednesday evening 😄

    • Make time to look after yourselves too Jaffa.

  • A sad day today that puts all my moans and groans into perspective.

    • We all do.

    • Yes, hope Em is ok.

    • Absolutely 💔

  • Sun. 10th May - very slow yesterday but awl still managed to add £5, well done you👏 - Shyboy added £2 to his bonus, well done Shyboy 👏 - Fubsy - Jaxster - Barrie -&- I each managed to add £1 to our respective bonus pots.

That was it, congrats to everyone who was able to add something ANYTHING to their bonus amount on such a survey - empty day.👍

Today hasn’t been any better for me, just 3p again so far, so hopefully you’ve all done better🤞

It was quite a pleasant day here, some washing went out in the garden & various plants & pots were attended to, nothing too strenuous though, hope none of you have overdone it.

Sorry I’m a bit late again -visitors- hope everyone is ok, hope Mr & Mrs Jaffa arrived safely at Aunties in Devon & aren’t reduced to tearing their hair out.

Hugs to NokeyBlokey & anyone else who isn’t feeling too great.🤗🤗

Best of luck with the surveys, if you can find any! And Good Luck in all the Draws🍀☘️🍀🌤️🍀☘️🍀

    • Glad you arrived safely, Jaffa.

    • We had a two hour delay on the M5 due to a large accident but we were not involved so a small price to pay.

      I already have a few bald patches🤣

  • Sat. 9th May - once again awl had an even better day, adding £16 to his bonus + advanced 2 LB places! very well done you👏 - I added £6, mainly due to Marie sorting out the wonkey one, many thanks Marie - Fubsy & Shyboy did well, each adding £5 to their bonus amounts, well done both👏 - CS - Jaxster & Bruce8 each added £2 to their bonus totals, well done all👏 -&- Clyde - Barrie - Jaffa & Beth8it each added £1 to their respective bonus pots+ Beth went up 2 LB places👏

Congrats to everyone who increased their bonus, it all adds up even if you didn’t manage to get to another £1. How have you all been doing today ? I have 8p so far, not had any offers & been quite busy again + tidying bathroom plants too.

Have quite a few plants in there- the big window faces South & the small one West so it’s really sunny most of the day - well, when there is some ☀️, cloudy & raining here most of today!

The weather hasn’t stopped the B.B’s from singing away, I can hear them now, still competing with one another.

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend, whatever you’re getting up to! & hope you all get to complete some surveys, assuming you want them of course.🤞

Wishing you all Good Luck in all the Draws 🍀☘️🍀🌧️🍀☘️🍀

    • Ah! That’s why you didn’t do many surveys yesterday🙃 Glad you had a good weekend, don’t think I’ve ever seen The Castle & definitely not The Sheep Detective, though the name’s familiar- is there a book perhaps?

    • Thanks FP.

Friday night we went to see the Australian movie The Castle as part of the London Australian Film Society. It is one of my favourite movies and dragged my cousin along with me to see it. She is converted and we will be coming back for the 2027 screening. A school friend back in Oz said it was recently voted Australia's funniest movie.

Yesterday we went to see the Sheep Detectives. Highly recommend it, it's hilarious.

    • It’s a bit brighter here today, nothing in the way of surveys most of Sat. Finally got 1 late/early & managed to complete, wasn’t for much but better than nothing, not found anything on offer today so far.

    • Thanks FP. There's a real dearth of surveys today, for me at least. I've only managed 18p so far, so unless things change in the morning, tomorrow will be my worst performance for a while.

    • It’s been a nice day here today too.OH off on a shanty singing fundraising day so I had a day of housework before we go to Devon tomorrow .I treated myself to a mid afternoon coffee while reading the paper in a blissfully peaceful cafe too.

Aunty in a bad way this week so it’s going to be a tough visit.

Hope all of you have managed some time to do something nice and maybe a few surveys….unlike me.😩

  • YH

    • How can we help you?

    • NP

  • Thankfully the political survey paid me otherwise my usual 3p.

  • Fri. 8th May - awl had an even better day on Thurs. adding £12 to his bonus, well done awl👏 - Jaxster - Shyboy - & I each added £5 to our bonus amounts, well done us👏 - Fubsy added £4 to his bonus, well done you👏 - Bridie - Barrie - maddadof & HM each added £2 to their respective bonus pots, well done all👏 - &- Clyde & CS each added an extra £1 to theirs.

Pretty good earnings for yesterday, how has today been? I’ve not had time to check today, another R.M. Post dump, it’s driving me round the bend when everything is delivered in 1 go & somethings are already out of date! Had electioneering pamphlets from the one who rhymes with garage - wasted his sponsors money there! (would have been wasted anyway on us, though obviously lots of folks with VERY bad memories out there, judging by the results 😱)

Still working my way through tons of paperwork, trying to investigate options & make choices based on what might or might not happen a bit further down the line- WW Recession anyone??

My memory is getting worse too, which doesn’t help, I make notes but then don’t remember where I’ve put them- end up doing it all again!

I hope most of you have had a more productive day, anyone found any good surveys?

It was a little brighter here today, Mr FP made a visit to the recycling centre with a car full of ‘stuff’ there isn’t an empty space anywhere though 🤔 I reckon everything just spreads out to fill any gaps while we’re not looking!😟 Got rid of all the green waste too, so lots of empty bags for the next lot.

Hope you are all doing ok & keeping fit & well, hugs to anyone who isn’t or would just like a hug🤗🤗

Very Best Wishes for Good Luck in the Draws🍀☘️🍀⛅️🍀☘️🍀

    • Thanks Enver, yes top rate I’ve seen is 4.6 too but lots of those are app based & I can’t be bothered doing things on my phone, especially where money is involved- don’t want a wayward thumb/finger altering the info.

I think you can ‘defer’ your pension a bit too long, I checked the additional income & worked it out over 5 years, it really wasn’t worth it, especially with consistently rising prices to consider but as everyone’s circumstances are different it’s hard to make comparisons and as none of us know how long we’ve got I’d take having it now over some future date.

We aren’t living off our investments, just looking to safeguard some cash for future use, so ISA’s are my main focus. Good luck, hope you find the best platform for your requirements Enver. Thanks for all the info.🤗

    • Depends what you are looking for, I google all the comparison sites & trawl through lots of lists comparing best interest rates for various institutions & a specific type of account. It really annoys me when the best rates are "only available via our mobile App" as my laptops can't handle Apps..

Highest 5 year Cash ISA is 4.61% fixed from the Marsden Building Socy, they pay out interest (monthly on 1st, or annually) but only have 6 branches - all in Lancs. If you want a big name Nationwide / Virgin (& 4 to 5 others) offer 4.60% fixed for 3 to 5 years but they only pay out interest annually on anniversary of the account.

Ai Rayan pays an "expected profit rate" of 4.65% variable? for a fixed term of only one year (but not an ISA, & doesn't say guaranteed) so I wouldn't touch that.... Is it propaganda speculation, or do they know something others don't.

Forget about capital lending platforms, they are not usually FSCS guaranteed, take a lot of work & risk, although profits can be high..

Most important if you are living on it (without any Govt benefits) like I am, my current cash ISA matures next week (after 3 years at 5% fixed), so a fair drop in income in times when prices are always rising, but I'll have to manage.

I could always claim my deferred (reduced) state pension (& pension credit) if I get into difficulty, probably not worth paying up missing years, (any idea how long that takes before I get the 1st payment?) ... the longer I leave that the more I get, but there comes a balancing point with remaining life expectancy time while recieving it.

    • Did you find anything useful Enver, it seems to take ages checking out different organisations, many of them only do internet access. I prefer phone service but the only ones I’ve found all have lower interest!

    • Was overcast & quite chilly here today, didn't bother going on bus to Sainsbury's. Was doing some financial planning today, finding out who has the best interest rates & accounts for me,.

  • Thurs. 7th May - awl had the best day on Wed. Adding £10 to his bonus, well done you👏 - Jaxster did ok, adding £5 to her bonus, well done Jax👏 - maddadof did well, adding £4 to his bonus, well done maddadof 👏 - Fubsy - Shyboy - & I each added £3 to our bonus pots, well done us👏 - ralphy added £2 to his/her bonus -&- Clyde - CS - Bridie - Arfa & HM each added £1 to their respective bonus pots, I’m guessing the £1 political survey, so they’ll probably all add another £1 tomorrow.

Well done all who added some bonus, what has today been like? I’ve got 3p so far, not a sniff of a survey anywhere! Hope you’ve all had some better experiences.🤞

Another mostly cloudy day here, quite cold too🥶have been shivering most of the day, don’t know if it’s just me but feeling really cold brr!

We finally got the 2nd delivery, so all ok now for a week or two- Enver’s adjustable bedside table sounds interesting but I’m not looking on T. I’ll have to get Mr FP to have a look, I think we’re still about £20 in credit with them from months ago!

You just know that if you start looking, there will be all kinds of things which catch the eye but I want to get rid of things not add more!

Did anyone in the South/ Midlands get any of the horrendous thunder storms which were forecast for this week?

I hope everyone is ok, hugs & best wishes to all who aren’t feeling too well at the moment 🤗🤗- especially NokeyBlokey 😘

Best of Luck to All in the Draws 🍀☘️🍀🌫️🍀☘️🍀

Edit- have had a fairly good evening with a couple of surveys & some screenouts!

    • Torrential rain late afternoon but that was all.

    • No thunderstorms in my part of the Midlands either.

    • No storms here, Spent three hours watering front and back gardens yesterday. Flowers everywhere, incuding roses, wallflowers, foxgloves, cornflowers, lily of the valley, London pride, dandelions, daisies, stocks, geraniums, fuchsias and many more. All seem to be early. Also eaten my first wild strawberry.

  • Welcome back Bruce8 👋 nice to see your name on the LB once again, what pici are you using now?

    • They are impressive flowers.

    • Its an old memory. I grew it because my younger sister provided the seeds. It flowered a year after she died

    • That’s different, it does look extraordinarily bird-like - you must like a challenge Bruce8 👍

    • Hi FP, I've chosen a Bird of paradise flower. This is one I saw in Spain, though I previously flowered one in the greenhouse many years ago.

  • Not that I am paranoid but I just popped on and discovered I had gone down a place on the Leaderboard. Initial thought… oh no I’ve been ralphpoodled! Phew just someone joining above me 😂

    • 👍

    • Sorry to hear that Susiewoo2. Fingers crossed you start climbing the board again soon.

    • Hmmmm, I've moved down 3 places, need more time for surveys.

  • Paulmu is catching me now as still no surveys paying out for me.Never mind there’s worse things at sea.

    • That did make me laugh, Jaffa! 😂

    • Yes you galloped past me 😂😂 & many others!

    • I do not know when if ever I will come off the survey naughty step but my crimes must be heinous.🤣

    • Very true Jaffa, Jellyfish- Sharks etc. At least you got £1 today with the political survey👍 I didn’t see it at all.

  • Wed. 6th May - Fubsy & Jaxster had the best day, each adding £8 to their respective bonus totals, well done both 👏 - awl did ok too, adding £5 to his bonus, well done you👏 - Shyboy & I each added £3 to our bonus amounts, well done us👏 - Barrie added £2 to his bonus, well done Barrie👏 -&- maddadof rolled over to another £ as well.

Congrats to Fubsy, Jax & awl for finding some reasonable surveys, mine were very long & low paid but added up to an acceptable amount. I’ve tried loads today & not got anywhere much at all!😟 so I hope most of you have had a better day🤞

It started off nice & sunny here but by lunchtime it was clouding over rapidly & looking as though rain was on the way, it didn’t materialise though & has actually brightened up a bit before a nice evening.

We lost one of our lovely Blackbird chicks, Mr FP found it hunched up between some of the big pots round the side of the house, he considered moving it but thought frightening the poor little thing might just finish it off. I was concerned that some of the visiting cats might kill it.

Today it was laying on its side, no visible signs of being attacked, so not too sure what happened to it.

There are 3 others all busy practicing their songs & vying with each other to be loudest & longest, I do enjoy watching them, they are in the old Ivy tree, just on a level with the top bathroom window- which is clear glass.

There’s a bit of a tatty looking Robin who sits there too but he doesn’t hang around when all 3 of the BB’s are on there.

It’s been a frustrating day here, what with surveys & deliveries not cooperating, both items were stated as ‘out for delivery’ yesterday, no update at all for 1 of them & a “sorry your item has been delayed” msg for the other!

Mr FP had been planning a visit to the recycling centre with a large quantity of garden waste but ended up having to wait in, just incase!

Update- the plants from T&M were just delivered 19.19 so that’s 1 item crossed off the list.

I hope everyone is ok & not experiencing any adverse weather conditions, heavy thunder storms look to have been forecast for the South, still dry here, hopefully you’ve not been affected.

Wishing you all the Best of Luck in the Draws🍀☘️🍀⛅️🍀☘️🍀

    • Happy belated birthday to your mum, Bruce.

    • On 4th I ordered the £9.60p height/tilt adjustable bedside table from Temu so I could watch in bed without turning my head... Delivery (from Derby) via Yodel arrived this morning (2 days later), & took me about 15mins to bolt it all together with the wee hex key supplied. I'm quite pleased with it.

Had one bolt extra, which was puzzling, - maybe they are superstitious about packing things in eight's in Shanghai., but I do know chinese consider anything with (multiples of) three lucky.

    • No, one of her younger cousins did. I visit later in the month.

      Standby to surface.

    • Congrats to your Mum.I hope she had a good day.🎂🎂

    • 94 isn't a bad score to reach.

    • Wow! Many congrats to Mum, hope she had a lovely day, did you take her out for a meal?

    • Bruce8: Mum is 94 today

  • Tues. 5th May - awl had an excellent day Monday, adding £13 to his bonus + advancing another LB place, well done you👏 - Fubsy did ok too, adding £6 to his bonus, well done Fubsy 👏 - Jaxster - ralphy - Shyboy -&- I each added £2 to our respective bonus pots, well done us 👏

That was it, so still in Bankholiday mode for the majority, well done to awl & Fubsy for bucking the trend👍 How has today been? I’ve seen very little today & of those I have seen, some ‘issues’ - errors - & the odd screenout.

Hopefully you’ve all done rather better🤞It’s been another dry day here but mostly cloudy, did anyone have any of the forecasted rain??

I’ve spent much of the day trying to clear a backlog of paperwork- it’s still not sorted - at the rate I’m going it’ll take the rest of the week! I’m blaming Royal Mail, if they’d just deliver it in manageable quantities, I’d be able to deal with it immediately.

We’ve nothing planned this week, Mr FP went shopping today & several supposedly ‘imminent’ deliveries will entail lurking within reach of the front door for the foreseeable future, where doubtless we will be able to spy the retreating backs of any delivery drivers- as they sprint back to their vehicles- parcels in hand! 🙄

Hope everyone is ok, hugs to anyone feeling ill or just plain fed up at the moment, take care🤗🤗- Wishing you All the Very Best of Luck in the Draws & any available surveys.🍀☘️🍀🌫️🍀☘️🍀

    • As if they'd even notice or care.

    • I've got the last laugh, I've cancelled my account!. That's about an annual £10 they won't get from me.

    • "Shyboy, Sorry, I wouldn't get your hopes up, I read recently (not sure if it was on PMP or elsewhere) that Co's like Amazon are so big that they are their own insurers.

They won't investigate or give any drivers or vehicle details even if evidence is sent - even to police visiting their depot (gave them the run around) , they blank anyone trying to claim.

It's not worth trying to sue them in court as they have deeper pockets & their own extensive legal team.

      It shouldn't be allowed.

    • Not good that you have to foot the bill Shyboy and I have heard Amazon vans are quite notorious for this.

      Glad damage was minimal.

    • Marie, I did get the reg. The van was so battered with all the side mouldings missing there is no way to see any fresh damage, Tried to get contact details of the Havant distribution centre but they don't show any phone numbers or email. I can repair my damage for about £50 of materials. Haven't bothered with the insurance as my excess is £250 and I'm changing insurers this week anyway. Just grateful that there weren't any injuries and I can fix the car at some stage. The mot is on Wednesday so I'll ask Mark to double check that nothing on the steering is bent.

    • Did you get his reg, Shyboy? I don't know how helpful Amazon would be, but it's worth contacting them about it.

    • I did extremely well on issues. Plenty of gardening yesterday, including a lot of watering. Cut the grass and the mower found a pair of sidecutters which went missing a couple of years ago and weren't rusty at all. Still fuming from Last Sunday when I was waiting in lane 1 of 3 to go onto the roundabout towards Hayling. In lane 2 was an Amazon van who immediately turned left in front of me as the lights changed. Dented the o/s/f wheel arch and scraped the bumper. He stopped on the slip road and told me that I was wrong for not turning left. I told him that he was in a lane that was straight ahead only. He refused to give me his name. Let us just say that I did doubt his parentage.

    • Thanks FP, I wasn't expecting much on Monday, seeing as it was the BH, but I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a couple of decent surveys each worth a few quid, and even more surprised when they actually let me do them! And now today I've just had a rather strange survey asking how I think my neighbours will vote. Weird, but it was short and paid about 50p, so I liked it.

    • I had a 2 minute survey for 48p which turned out to be a 40odd minute Kokuro survey which was as boring & repetitive as usual but it did pay 48p.

    • I've not even been offered any surveys for the last couple of days.

  • Started out to visit Slimbridge only to get a call from Bristol aunties friend to say leg swollen and leaking. So stop to contact surgery who have still not responded.

Then get call from Devon auntie to say she’s been dizzy all morning.Sit in a queue of 17 to call her surgery who can’t contact her until the next morning.Explained she’s a high fall risk and being dizzy could cause one…if that happens call 999 they say.

Cancelled our trip to make the calls and wait to hear so spent the time in the garden. Now I could do with a gp!😵‍💫

    • Oh dear let’s hope that yesterday was a one off for me.

    • Oh dear, I expect she -Devon Auntie- didn’t realise the time. Though I do remember my Mother ringing me often when we were in bed, Just wanted to chat, when I said to her one day, I wish you’d stop ringing in the middle of the night, she replied “ It’s not the middle of the night it’s nearly 4.30!! “

Good Luck Jaffa, hopefully social services will do a bit more if you stand back a bit. 🤞

    • Both have had visits today from respective practice nurses. At least Bristol aunt is now having regular nurse visits so that’s another eye being kept on her.

That leaves Devon aunt who I visit next week probably to strangle after calling me at 1.30 am…😩😩

    • Thank you both .

    • I hope you manage to get them both sorted, Jaffa.

    • IIRC one of them refused a residential place so I'd only worry about the other. You'll do harm to your own health otherwise.

    • Thank you FP.One at a time I can do but both!….

    • Oh poor you Jaffa, I remember how it feels, when your life is not your own! Good luck sorting them both out🤗
