• Being selfish, just wanted to say I am extremely tearful. It's my dad's 88th birthday today. Some may remember around October last year he was given a few hours to live and they wouldn't operate due to his age and chances of surviving an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Well, he survived that night and he is still here, completely self sufficient, I cannot say thank you enough to the powers that be, and to the surgeons that gave him a chance. I just need to get a blooming grip on myself and stop blubbing! 🙏

    • It’s bound to make you reflect and remember that time.Just so pleased you were given the chance to also celebrate!

    • Yes I remember you & your brothers rushing off to the hospital, praying he’d make it through the night. So pleased for you that he came through it. 🤗Congratulations to Dad on his Birthday 🎂🥂🍾

    • Many thanks Shyboy, he means the world to me 🥰

    • Happy Birthday Susiewoo2's dad, hope he's enjoyed his day.

    • Thanks, maddadof...is that a trekker quote? Xxx

    • HBD Susiewoo2's Dad, as some say LL&P...

    • I'm glad he is still with you. Best wishes to you and your dad.

  • Back to normal today.

Bruce congrats to your son in passing his driving test.

Flower you are proving hard to treat this time but hope it mends soon.

Now off food shopping and then a day of trying to sort onward care for Bristol aunt before going off to Devon aunt on Monday.

I’m off holiday mode but ads still in Italian.

    • I really enjoyed reading your posts 🥰

    • Jaffa, The universe wastes nothing...

    • I’ll be dead by then Barrie!😂😂

    • Good luck with the aunts Jaffa then you concentrate on your 50th anniversary celebrations, it won't be long now.

    • We absolutely did!It was just what we needed and a lovely way to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

    • Welcome back, Jaffa. Sounds like you had a lovely time.

  • Wed. 16th Sept.- awl had another reasonable day, adding £9 more to his bonus, well done you 👏 - A pretty slow day for most but Fubsy & Shyboy each added £3 to their bonus amounts + Shyboy advanced another LB place, well done both👏 - CS & Enver each added £2 to their bonus pots,+ Enver advanced another LB place, well done you two👏 -&- maddadof & Beth8it each managed another £1 for theirs+ Beth made it to the £800 mark, well done both.👏

Congrats. to all who managed a bonus increase, once again, there wasn’t anything available here, those issues are a real pain, they just make it a waste of time trying.

It’s a good job I’ve been getting more UGov ones, they don’t penalise their survey participants for declining too long surveys or complaining about the content. Their latest idea also means that you can cash out at £25 rather than waiting to get £50.

Quite a pleasant day here, rain was forecast but has only just materialised- so washing got dry & the green stuff was mowed.

Mr FP was drying out the floor where the old FridgeFreezer had been, obviously had leaked for a long time, he’d removed the top layer of parquet & cut out the baseboard a week or two back. Yesterday he trod on it - with his big size 11 foot & went right through the floorboards!

Gaping big hole!😱, several floorboards had rotted away, so it’s an even bigger hole now as he’s cut it all back to solid wood & fortunately the heavy joists are unaffected so tomorrow he needs to go & buy some floorboards but may have to improvise as it’s unlikely they’ll have the right thickness. Ours is an old house & they used much thicker wood back then.

Ah, well! Something to keep him busy😇 He’s just finished his walk round the Alps, so ready for a new challenge 😂

Hope you are all ok, it seems all the shops have skipped Halloween here & gone straight into 🎄mode! I’m not even going to say the word before Dec.1st. Do any of you start decorating earlier? & if so when?

Good luck with the surveys & wishing you all, the Very Best of Luck in the Draws 🍀☘️🍀🌤️☀️🌤️🌧️🍀☘️🍀

    • You are very resourceful Shyboy.

    • FP, I've just dismantled a pallet. Used some it for struts on the gates which are rotting. You can have the rest to patch up the floor.

    • I told my pension man I wanted to draw down, just to save on tax, but he ‘wouldn’t let me ’ - not really but said his job was to protect me in case it was needed for care fees, medical treatment etc and I should be careful.

    • I've made it clear, there is a budget. Car, tax, insurance, breakdown cover will be mine for first year then it will be more or less up to him (I've agreed to buy the bus as well).

Spend the money on the children now.

Once I'm gone there is a 40% tax on assets over £500,000, which includes house, pension & investments.

    • Hope the new ointment helps, sometimes things just inexplicably get better on their own, you never know 🤞

If Bank of Dad buys his car, does that also mean you will end up paying for the fuel & repairs, mot’s etc too?

    • Had an appointment at the doctors today. Seems I may have to live with this always. Provided with something else to apply, so it is less of a problem. I said "so i'm going to have to live with this for 30 years?" He smiled at my estimate on life expectance.

My son past his driving test - so bank of Dad will need to look at car options

    • We had a few spits of rain this morning but nothing to worry about.

I have so many xmas albums I start playing them in November but decorate on xmas eve.

  • Tues. 15th Sept. - awl had an even better day, adding £20 to his ever increasing bonus+ advancing yet another LB place, well done you👏 - Fubsy had a good day, adding £7 to his bonus, well done Fubsy, finding some at last👏 - ralphy & maddadof did well too, each adding £4 to their bonus amounts+ maddadof advanced another LB place, 👏 well done both - Malc_H added £2 to his bonus, well done Malc👏 -&- Barrie - Enver & Bruce8 each added another £1 to their respective bonus pots, well done you 3👏

Congrats to all who added some bonus, I had no luck whatsoever & was late back today too, so not even the 3p yet. Hope you’ve all had some good opportunities today & been able to complete them.👍

It wasn’t cold here today, sunny with intermittent showers, we luckily missed most of. A long session at the hospital fortified with hot drinks & a cheese (allegedly) sarnie. Glad to get home & rest my leg, Mr FP was able to commandeer a wheelchair to whisk me all the way back to the car, sigh!

Extremely grateful to the young Dr who arranged today’s ultrasound as it would have been tomorrow otherwise.

Hope everyone is ok & hope Jaffa & hubby have a pleasant journey home, best of luck to everyone with the surveys and in all the Draws🍀☘️🍀🌤️🌧️🌤️🌧️🍀☘️🍀

    • Barrie, I don’t think they’d fall for that one 😂 they’ve seen me ‘walking’ about!

    • You’re not wrong Marie, it’s a real pain- in every sense of the word- I think they’re just checking every possibility now that they’ve ruled out the obvious.

I’m now taking 4 diuretics a day instead of 1, so constantly on the go, bad enough if you didn’t have a painful leg!😩 & not aiding a good nights sleep either.

    • Fubsy, I’m glad to see you’re getting some again & CS too today. Fingers crossed for you Enver, yes those constant issues are a real turn off. Just have to keep on trying.

    • @FlowerPower - Tell them you need to be treated because you're down to run the next marathon & that they would be the the charity you were hoping to collect for.

    • I hope they get to the bottom of it soon, FP. You must be fed up.

    • Went through My Account to see if any answers can be changed/deleted re survey security, nothing that made any difference, it's like continually adding 2 numbers & expecting a different result from the computer each time. Lucky to have completed any, though still mostly Issues.

    • Thanks FP, yes some surveys that actually let me complete them have come my way, after a rather long period without.

  • Last day in Sirmione before travelling back. The weather has been beautiful and the gentle lake breezes have kept us fairly cool.

We had a boat trip around the lake yesterday and have explored the tiny backstreets of the old town and had some lovely food.

For those of you that know of me you will not be surprised that we have had to be in constant contact with our local hospital regarding Mr J’s aunt.I cannot complain though as it’s usually mine that causes issues!

We have still had a very good time in spite of that.

Flower I hope your leg gets sorted today.

    • But we'd miss you too much if you did that, Enver!

    • @FP - sure hope they find the cause soon, longer it lasts the more damage to cure.

@Jaffa - Hope you & Mr J have a safe & trouble free journey back, ... I'd rent a cheap room & stay there permanantly if it's that good

    • Good food can make a lot of difference to a holiday Jaffa. I hope the aunts have remembered you both in their wills.

@FlowerPower - I hope they connect the dots soon.

    • Sadly not Jaffa. Though they don’t think it IS an infection now because the stronger antibiotics didn’t make any impact but I’ve had an Ultrasound, so it’s not a blood clot. I’m having a heart scan on Friday.

The consultant is really keen to find the cause of it.

Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed your holiday, it sounded lovely, hope coming home won’t prove too much of a drag.🤞
