  • Hi all. I thought you'd all like to know that Simon's funeral will take place on Tues 16th June at 1:30pm at Test Valley Crematorium, Ridge Lane, Romsey, SO51 6AD

The crem has the option for a video feed, which I will be requesting as his uncle is on chemo and may be unable to attend. Maybe some of you might like to watch/listen in.

The wake venue is to be confirmed but it will be in the central Southampton, SO14 area.

A memorial website for Simon will be set up by the funeral directors in the next few days, on which people will be able to post photos and memories/stories, which will be lovely. It will also include the information about the funeral and chosen charities.

To those who live within a radius of Southampton, please don't feel obliged for anything. This is just an FYI.

    • Lots of love Em x

    • Thank you so much for letting us know Em.

    • Thank you for letting us know.

  • Just been reading the daily Telegraph articles online. I know it is heavily biased to the Conservatives, and even though I agree with much of it, I am fairly cynical about political reports anyway. However, what with theirs, the BBC articles and Wiki biography about Zack Polanski, I am surprised that his party has as much support as it gained recently. A Green party representative (councillor?) turning up at a wedding driving a Lamborghini supercar gas guzzler, another who called the late queen ‘that fat lizard Lizzy’ and said she ‘couldn’t wait for her to die’ and now Polanski ducking out of paying council tax. Reading his biography summary is like a catalogue of apologies for ‘sorry, that was a mistake’ and ‘I shouldn’t have said that’ and ‘maybe that was an exaggeration.’ And he wants to be PM. God help us all.

    • It's astonishing, isn't it. I can't understand how they're doing so well either. Polanski (aka Dave Paulden) is obviously a lying chancer. I used to think that Reform were the biggest danger to this country, but now I think the Greens have taken their place.

    • Well he is obviously a P.M. in waiting and doing all the things required to get elected……😫

  • Puppy tails: Stepson’s birthday today, and we were all going to the pub at lunchtime, so I went to Tesco to do the shopping first. I had done a bit longer walk than usual to wear the boys out and they were nice and quiet so I decided to risk leaving them loose in the lounge for the first time. Stepson said he would check on them, as I had neighbour’s shopping to do as well. When I got home I saw they were back in their pen. ‘How were they? ‘ I asked.

    1. Storm found the kitchen towel roll and they did Andrex puppies all round the lounge and bedroom, creating shredded confetti and streamers.

    2. Somebody performed on the carpet - stepson swears it wasn’t him and I have given him the benefit of the doubt as it’s his birthday.

    3. I have an old ottoman at the end of the bed with spare bedding in. Pups use it to get onto the bed. Correction - I had an ottoman. I now have a Nottoman. They have eaten one corner and started ripping strips of board off the side. Luckily it’s only made of thick hardboard, so could be replaced or patched. The joys of teething puppies!

    • Ha ha!🤣🤣

    • HBD 2 Himself, the g/friend must think he's cute ??? ;-)

    • What, them? Or him? He certainly doesn’t! 😊

    • Oh dear Beth.I expect you are used to what they can get up to but not so much your stepson.Thats the trouble with looking cute and adorable!

  • Met my mate with all his camping gear.

"I love going outdoors" he said.

"Aye it's better than going out the windows" I told him!! 😜😜

    • Ensuite - bucket in the corner of bedroom...

    • Use a toilet like everyone else when you want to go!

  • Why is my post not hear now

    • Thanks Little Owl, I will look for that.

    • On an entirely different subject, there is a change.org petition to save Christmas cards by asking Royal Mail to create a special 50p Christmas stamp.

  • Phoned the tinnitus hotline today.

No one answered it just kept ringing!!😜😜

    • 😂

    • I smiled too.

    • Made me smile, thanks Kenny

    • :-) :-)

  • I was out with a friend this morning and she wanted to go to M&S for a coffee. When she scooped up all the froth, she was left with one third of a cup of coffee. At £3.70 it would have cost about £11.10 for a full cup.

I was all set to complain but she didn't want to make a fuss. This is why these companies can continue to rip people off

    • I must be legendary as I always complain and usually get satisfaction.

    • That sounds like a mixture of a latte / cappuchino

    • Us Brits are legendary for not bothering to complain. That's why it was good to read, on another draw page yesterday, that our very own Shyboy took on a parking company and got a good result. :-)

    • I’d pay it for a decent cup. ☕️

    • You'd be better popping round mine for coffee. I've an excellent machine, great beans, and you'd get a full cup. I'd still charge as much as M&S though.😂

    • Sadly there isn't a Waitrose in this area

    • Steer her to Waitrose instead for a coffee that's free for customers.

  • I laughed when I heard Wes Streeting has resigned as Health Secretary, saying he has lost confidence in his leader. At least Labour is consistent - making U-turns obviously runs in the whole ethos, but even for Labour it takes a lot of guts to make U-turns before you are elected. How long ago did he say he had full confidence in Sir Keir Starmer and would support him while he was in power? Obviously not a ‘No U-turn’ Street.

    • The mention of Reform losing or suspending people for voicing blatantly racist views says one thing to me. Reform are honest. Some nay not like their views, in the same way many wouldn't like mine, or due to political correctness they'd say they don't but at least they're honest enough to voice them, however supposedly terrible they might be. I'll always say though that stating a fact is not being racist. I live in an area where I see so many things that generally the police turn a blind eye to rather than be called racist. That in my opinion is worse. Fortunately we had more than a dozen cops with sniffer dogs around a local shop and barbers and all the time they were around not a single car appeared, whereas normally you can't walk past without having to walk into the road because as one car leaves another appears, constantly, all parking on double yellow lines and on the pavement. I can only hope they find what they were looking for. The only problem is, "it's not my shop I was just looking after it for someone but I don't know the guy, he asked me to wait as he had to go out" and other excuses that police and courts never seem able to prove are lies.

    • OK, I thought they were scrapped because they were tying up staff when not being used enough - I suppose if there are only x no. of staff in the country, you can’t spread them over more facilities. We come back to my idea of taking out ready-to-leave patients to somewhere like a hotel, nursing Home etc that is one of the many closing down each week, and only needing a small number of staff supervising them, until a care package is sorted. At present they are bed-blocking involuntarily, whereas they could be cleared through the system and begin their rehab or be safely independent to whatever degree possible without being deserted in their home.

    • Sorry Beth but I have to correct you about the Nightingale wards. Though it seemed a great idea in theory, anyone who worked in the NHS would have told you they were doomed before they started as they just did not have the staff to run them. The same applies now, staff shortages mean that wards already in existence are not always fully staffed.

    • Labour are very fond of saying to Conservatives that ‘you had 14 years to get it right’ but they had 14 years to make, adapt, talk over, re-plan and finalise their preparations for power, yet they were totally unready, hence one u-turn after another, and blatantly obvious inadequate costings and feasible manifesto. Of course they got in easily - Boris had the chance with Covid to be a great politician with leadership, decisiveness and imagination. He blew it totally - the scientists and NHS and private sector performed heroics and he was fantastic at getting the vaccines out, planning the Nightingale Wards, which were a great idea and should be in use now as overflows, but he wanted to be a statesman, not a day-to-day politician and lost interest in the daily grind. I actually like Starmer - I think he’s a decent man with the right motives, but is struggling with his ‘team’ for want of a better word, just as nearly every other PM has done. There certainly isn’t anyone better than him to take over in Labour.Sleaze, rebellion, disgrace - it’s brought down so many. Polanski’s crowd is already a disgrace, as is he. Reform is made of drop-outs and rejects, with waffle and no credible plans, and Conservatives, for me, need longer to knock themselves into shape. What a hope for Britain.

      Rant 3

    • Starmer was the one leading Labour when they were elected and as Rosy says he’s not messed up single handedly.

Labour had seen all the mess the Conservatives got into and apparently learnt nothing.

It should not be possible to change leader mid term unless through illness or death.

Whoever voted them in may not agree with the new leader and it is simply wrong to force another person on the electorate!

      Rant two…

    • @ Beth - I don't rate Gordon Brown as a good Chancellor either. He spent too much time trying to move from number 11 to number 10 he didn't seem to worry what was happening to the economy.

    • I agree Beth8it. Also the cabinet should be taking responsibility for their mistakes, not letting the PM shoulder all their cock ups. A change of leader won't make much difference in my opinion, and we can't afford a general election as a country. All this talk of a leadership challenge is distracting from the real problems, but maybe that's the point. The ministers have no idea what they are doing so have decided to blame it all on the boss!

Meanwhile Reform are telling people they have all the answers, whilst allowing a candidate to win a council seat and then find he is a man who beat his wife; great level of due diligence. Not to mention the Reform councillors who won seats, only to resign the next day as " they didn't realise what the job entailed" . Oh come on !

      Sorry rant over 🙂

    • As chocolate spaniel says- be careful what you wish for! Reforms policies are ill thought out and poorly costed. They have already lost or had suspended a number of newly elected councillors for voicing their blatantly racist views. And many of the labour losses in the recent elections were protest votes made by people who were voting about the boats crossing the channel which has nothing to do with local councils

    • I have pointed out (on here, I think, though wouldn’t swear to it) that she is the main reason for Labour’s loss of popularity. Starmer has taken responsibility for, which is as it should be, but his biggest fault was appointing someone with insufficient ability and the charm of a warthog. Sorry, warthogs - apologies. He can’t kick her out as there isn’t anyone else capable either, would create bedlam in the markets and it’s something he should have thought about before getting into power. In fact, much as I hate to say it, Gordon Brown was better as Chancellor than as P.M., even if he did create massive borrowing debt. She just wants to make a name for herself, so is staying very quiet now, not sharing the blame and hoping whoever gets in lets her stay on.

    • Titchy, she was on the news earlier today talking about the higher than expected rise in economic growth in March.

    • Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder why Ms. Reeves's name hasn't been mentioned in a good while? Or should that be bad while?

    • Kill enough patients and it reduces the waiting lists. We've had another death being investigated following concerns about the care he received (or lack of). In 2015 we had a woman at risk of suicide found hanged in an a&e cubicle, April '24 another death linked to poor care. I remember the days when you went to hospital to be made better. I am going back a lot of years though. Now it's more like a trip to the zoo, starting outside seeing the doctors shouting and dancing like monkeys at feeding time.

    • If Torbay hospital is anything to go by it’s just got worse as I spend a lot of time at various depts not just eyes.

    • Did you hear about the wonderful things he has done for the NHS, including reducing waiting lists? Poor Jaffa is trying to get an appointment for her Aunt.

    • Et tu Brutus? I thought Streeting was his best mate.😞

    • Obviously not a ‘No U-turn’ Streeting.

    • The Labour crisis is an open door for Reform and who wants them in power! So many voted for them as a protest against the other parties without a clue about their policies.

  • This summer a "Super El Niño" will bring the hottest global surface temperatures on record, for UK that means heatwaves of 40C in places.

OMG Don't panic, buy high SPF toilet rolls now ! 🧻

    • Not planning on going to a nudist beach, so won't need. 🫣

    • Some people have still got plenty left over from the Covid panic-buy! 😄

    • No rush - it’s next year! Plenty of time to get stocks in!

  • Keir Starmer was visiting a school and he decides to teach the youngsters a new word: 'tragedy' and he asks them to use it in a sentence.

One girl raises her hand and says "If a school bus carrying 20 people drove off a cliff and killed everyone in it, then that would be a tragedy."

"No," Starmer responds. "That isn't a tragedy. That is what we'd call a great loss."

Then a boy raises his hand and says "What about if my friend was at a farm, and a farmer drove over him with a tractor? That would be a tragedy."

"No," Starmer repeats. "That's what we'd call an accident, not a tragedy. Anyone else?"

The class is stumped, then finally another boy raises his hand and says "I know what a tragedy would be! If Keir Starmer was flying in a private jet and got hit by a missile, that would definitely be a tragedy."

"Exactly!" Starmer says, pleased. "Now, can you tell the class why, exactly, that would be a tragedy?"

"Well," the boy replies. "It definitely wouldn't be a great loss, and it probably wouldn't be an accident either."

    • Yes - a revamp of an old one. Wonder how it could be arranged lol

    • I cried my eyes out, ... there were lots of vacant seats for other MP's on that plane.

    • The last time I heard that joke it was about Trump, not Starmer!

    • :-) :-)

  • Just met a French man who only wore beach footwear.

His name is Phillipe Fillop!! 😜😜

    • On a miserable shift at work today that brought a much-needed laugh-out-loud moment. Thanks Kenny b. 😂🤣😂

    • Was that all he was wearing. I suppose being French it probably was.

    • 😂

    • Groan!! 😄

    • :-) :-)

  • May 13th at 13:30, I have had my first pmp email for weeks. Well done for beating Microsoft into submission!

    • Now see if you can get them to remove all of the scam adverts on Facebook 😄

    • Well done!

    • I'm just glad we got it sorted out with them relatively quickly.

  • A good example of good luck and bad luck…

    Good luck – these won almost instantly - 16/01/26 -TR20 9DJ won £200 with 0.07p bonus, 19/01/26 – RM15 5EG won £200 with 0.02p bonus.

    Bad luck – neither claimed.

    • At 3p per day, the only embarrassing thing is that they didn't bother to check ALL the draws. 😜

    • Embarrassing 😒

    • The Winners Results page shows results since 2011 and has tabs for the different draws. Most tabs show the bonus amount that was due. ( the only results not shown are the £100 evening draw.) 😊

    • How do you check what their bonus is?

  • In my Spam tonight: 'Shrink your Prostate with Vick VapoRub trick.' Well, there we go, folks. You don't need injections, operations, tablets or anything else the specialist prescribe - nip into Boots and you'll be cured - and possibly enjoy it a lot more than the alternatives!

    • @ Beth - It was on the instructions at one time to put on the back of your tongue and I remember doing it. But not any more. Same with under your nose which I don't think they advise now.

    • Tattle. The 'Vick on the feet at bedtime' sounds silly, but it actually works. It's been around for many years. Put some old socks on, though

    • We always used Vick on the throat and under the nose when we had a cold but my brother used to put it down the back of his throat. The idea of it makes me heave.

    • I'd have thought there's not many places you can't rub Vicks on your body. I'm just going to try it and see.

      Yes, I'm right.

      Yes

      Yes, yes, yes, yeeeessss.

      That's really helped my congestion.

    • And it will stop plaque forming……🤣🤣

    • The spam I got said to rub toothpaste on the soles of your feet if they had a tendency to be burning hot in bed, guess it is antiseptic so wouldn't do any harm...🤔

    • The universal specific.

    • Funny enough, I got similar spam. You were to rub Vick VapoRub on your feet before going to bed keep your feet healthy.

    • Yes Jaffa - Vicks tends to smart on delicate areas of the body

    • It’s making my eyes water and I don’t have one!

  • Puppy update: Things are not great on the Storm-new-home front - the daughter of the family had quite a strong reaction to her time playing with the dogs - very itchy, streaming eyes and swellings all over. They really don't know what to do now, as they want to have Storm, but obviously can't have their daughter suffering like that, and the guy said he does't know if putting her on anti-histamines is a viable long-term solution. On the other hand, she could grow out of it, and could de-sensitise with continuous exposure to a dog - I can't make that decision for him. I suggested contacting his GP or a pharmacist to see what options are available - maybe a long-acting injection? Or find out about the tablets long-term, is there any disadvantage. All on hold for now.

On the plus side, I did get my plug wired up for the new filter and can re-use an existing outside socket, so don't need a new one put in. 😊

Shadow was very naughty this afternoon - I took them all out in front of the house, on the area under the trees, as they had a long walk at lunchtime and didn't need or want another. Storm was good, wandered along with Indi and me, but Shad got side-tracked and took no notice of me calling. In the end we all carried on without him, went round in a circle and back to the gate when he came tearing out of the bushes, looking very relieved to see us.

At lunchtime I had taken them on a longer walk as the morning one was a bit rushed and quite short. We went down to the stream, where Indi waded in and swooshed around, and the pups fetched sticks from the shallow area. Storm decided to be a bit braver and followed Indi into the deeper bit, halfway up his side, so Shadow went in too, they each grabbed a stick and galloped out with it, so I threw another for Indi. Storm, hanging over the edge of the bank, thought, 'I can reach that!' ... only he couldn't. One big splash, one puppy disappeared under water, came up spluttering and swimming perfectly naturally, decided he could live quite well without the stick and climbed out looking extremely unhappy. Lots of shaking himself dry, spluttering and looking accusingly at me (not guilty!) so we headed back home. I let them sleep in the sunshine for half an hour then put them to bed so I could get on with things.

    • I must admit that when Indi moults twice a year, the hair gets everywhere, and it’s a big relief when I can stop brushing her twice a day. Not looking forward to having to do Shadow too, and hopefully Storm will be rehomed before he joins in too.

    • I think it's fairer to say it doesn't always work - my cockapoo barely moults (I get a very small amount of dog hair around the house), and her temperament is brilliant. I guess you'll always get a range of results with any cross-breeding, and for someone with a severe allergy even the small amount of hair my dog sheds might be an issue.

    • From what I read not long ago, people think that crossing a poodle with any breed makes the pups non-moulting and not-allergenic, but it doesn't work. Some dogs still moult, and then you have the poodle temperament to deal with as well - which can be a problem.

    • Allergy UK also has good advice. If she is allergic it's usually the dander which causes the problem. But seeing GP is a good idea. Poodles and cockapoos are popular dogs for people with allergies.

    • Jaffa - the trouble is, we haven't told the girl they might be getting Storm, in case they can't, which would upset both kids and make the girl feel guilty. Apparently it's not all dogs - she seems to be OK with the poodle-type that don't moult, but they don't want a poodle, they want a lab, specifically Storm. (they didn't come to get a dog, just met him and fell for him). They wouldn't be able to bring her repeatedly without her guessing why, and in the meantime I am still spending out on him and not advertising him. I need them to chase up meds details so we can get it sorted or give up the idea so I can advertise him.

    • Depending on the severity of the allergy, could try taking hay fever medicine - i do all year round so i can keep my cats!

    • Are they sure it is an allergic reaction to the dog and not tree pollen allergy. Must be awful not being able to have pets and have a normal life. I heard somewhere that if people can put up with the allergy for 6 weeks their bodies will develop a natural immunity, but that is easier said than done.

    • I don’t know how easy this would be for you Beth but they could try bringing their daughter just for 10 mins and see what happens. If she’s ok they could increase the contact slowly but that could take time.

    • That's a shame, Beth. I hope they find a way to overcome the issues with her allergies.

  • Just met my mate who's wife just gave birth to a daughter.

"Congratulations" I said "what did you call her?"

    "Michelle Noelle" he replied.

"Well how do you spell it then" I asked!! 😜😜

    • Some of us don’t, thank goodness!🍷🤪

    • 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Some here need to keep off the drink.

    • Didn't get it until I read it out to Husband.

    • Heard as "Michelle - no L".

    • If you read Noelle as No L, then it makes sense (or at least I think it does, but now I'm starting to doubt myself!)

    • I haven't got it either! Can you put us out of our misery and explain?

    • Maybe it is pronunciation - I would say Mee-Shell Know-Elle so don't have a clue.

    • Me neither. Will need to think longer on that one.

    • Oh dear, I still haven’t got it!😆

    • Same, Rosie!😳

      Surely it's spelt Michee then?!

    • I won’t say how many times I had to read that 😳😂.

    • Me too! 😂

    • I read it twice, too. 😊

    • 😅

    • 😂 had to read it twice 😜

    • 🤣🤣

  • Total won so far on the site has just passed the £3.4 million mark.

A great achievement for Chris and the team I think.

    • :-) :-)

    • ANN, 🤣🤣

    • Sorry in advance.

Holmes and Watson were walking down the road and they came to a big yellow archway.

      "What's that?" asked Watson.

"It's a lemon entry" replied Holmes.

    • Well that’s far better😀

    • Ten years and I never knew that was there. Clearly I would never win a Sherlock Holmes lookalike competition. I did once win PMP though.

    • Thanks Marie, never sign out so never seen it! 👍

    • Most of us can be found on the logged out landing page under About us>Meet the team

    • And the admin people are pretty great too. Some (the tech team) we don't even know their names!

    • Yes PMP are obviously doing something right.😆

  • I have a working iphone 15 that has not been updated or changed in anyway, and I have not changed my membership. However, since 29 April I have not been able to open the main link to check the postcode wins on it. I am able to on my laptop. Any ideas?

    • Sorry to hear you are having problems. Do you know how to take a screenshot? If you do, please take one and email it to us so that we can see what is happening for you.

If you don't know how to take a screenshot, please describe what is happening in as much detail as you can. Are you seeing an error message?

  • Please I won the postcode hunt in the past 3 days and sent an email after completing the claim form. no response yet

    • This member is referring to Golden Postcodes. Uche, I can see you have emailed twice since Saturday and I will reply to you. Yesterday was the first working day since then and was incredibly busy, so I just didn't get around to your email then. Sorry about that.

    • No, if you refer someone who has a postcode that hasn't been registered before, you and the person you refer get £10 each into your PayPal account, subject to some checks being made.

    • I could be wrong, but i thought the post code hunt was just for fun???....

  • Puppy tails update: pups woke at 5.30am again, clean overnight so we are definitely getting there with the house-training (before you smart guys say it, I know - training a house is so difficult- how do you get it to fetch?). They have been clean and dry for about 10 days with only a couple of nights with wet pads when they refused to de-tank at night and just kept playing in the garden.

I had asked my electrician to drop in to look at a job and he called yesterday. Dogs all went out to say hello and his wife came out of the car to see them. Long story short, they may have Storm, subject to whether their daughter has an allergic reaction to him. They came back in the afternoon with the kids and we all went for a walk in the woods with the dogs. Storm absolutely loved them, especially the boy (about 8 or 9?), daughter 11, I think. Anyway, we didn’t tell them about having the pups in case it isn’t possible, but hopefully… Anyway, after playing in the garden, then going for a walk, I let the kids feed them, then they went and the pups staggered off to their bed and died for 2 hrs. Woke enough for a short trip to the garden about 9pm, back to bed again, and when I went to bed 11pm I literally had to lift them up, like boneless bags of jelly, pour them onto their feet and steer them outside again for a quick de-tank, then back to bed. Nice quiet evening!

    • It would be lovely for him to find his new home.

    • Great if Storm can go to someone else you know.

    • Sounds good, hope there is no allergic reaction (don't know why so many kids have allergies nowadays). Maybe the pups were chewing cables in preparation for working as a sparky's assistant.

  • Update 5pm 11th May: We have had some progress with Microsoft. About two-thirds of our emails are going through and we are continuing to monitor it. The Outlook Support Team have lifted the restrictions and we expect normal service to resume over the next 24-48 hours.

    https://help.pickmypostcode.com/article/172-microsoft-are-blocking-our-emails

    • I had one yesterday, but not today,

    • I have had a email today at 13:46.

Hopefully all is good now as you are a genuine company.

Microsoft wants to sort out the emails that I get in my inbox which aren't from a genuine company.

  • Yeah! I got a PMP email at 13;36 today, Monday 11th, thank goodness, let's hope it's sorted now, all that affected my loyalty rating too, when you already need a 48 hour day to get everything done, sadly sometimes, you don't even realise when you've missed something that day! ☹️

    • And here.

    • Same here Samandi.

    • I opted out of the emails years ago, I just log in 2 or 3 times a day. It soon becomes automatic.

    • The Outlook Support Team have lifted the restrictions and we expect normal service to resume over the next 24-48 hours.

Twinkle, the loyalty dial is just for fun and does not affect your chances of winning: https://help.pickmypostcode.com/article/81-what-is-this-loyalty-dial-all-about

    • I received my first PMP email today at 16:14 after many days without receiving any. Hopefully it's all sorted now with Microsoft

    • Just got mine 😁

  • I added chris@pickmypostcode.com to my email contact list and my Provider’s Safe Sender’s List a couple of days ago. But no joy.

But today I got a reminder in my email. Hopefully microsoft has stopped blocking it.

    • 🤞🤞🤞

  • Hi. For some reason my PMP emails stopped last week. Can you get this back for me. Thanks.

    • Thanks Rosy 2 Cakes and Chocolate Spaniel.

Really appreciated, tried using the troubleshooter with them but at no point have they offered human contact

    • Intrigued as to how you propose I contact Microsoft, as I haven't found any contact details for them?

    • PMP Chris posted this yesterday, and Marie has posted everyday since Friday about the problem.

Most probably because Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to block our emails. We’re working on it but please feel free to voice your displeasure with them. Assuming you have a hotmail/live/outlook email ?
