The Big Plastic Count Returns in March 2026

Join the UK’s biggest people-powered investigation into plastic waste.

Did you know that The Big Plastic Count is back in March? We’re proud to be supporting the UK’s biggest people-powered investigation into household plastic waste.

From 9-15 March, thousands of people from households, communities, businesses and schools across the UK will take part in The Big Plastic Count. By counting every piece of plastic packaging we throw away, together we’ll uncover the true scale of the UK’s plastics crisis and use this evidence to keep pushing the government to take urgent action to tackle the plastics crisis.

Since the last campaign, the UK has elected a new government, one that says it’s serious about tackling plastic waste. This is our chance to put their promise to the test.

This is more than simply counting our plastic. We’re helping build a people-powered movement for a fair future.

Are you ready to join the movement? Sign up to take part in The Big Plastic Count

  • First cataract done today. No problem with the procedure but really feeling peeved because my eye is so uncomfortable & I'm bored! Can't knit, can't watch TV, managing to do this post with the prickly eye shut but I'm having to listen to an audiobook & I don't like them at all. Oh well, moaning done. I can honestly say the procedure is not an ordeal. Did notice the colour difference on the drive home. (I could focus better then than I can now!) Everything so much bluer through the corrected eye, very much more yellow with the other. Monet had cataracts so he saw everything more yellow than it was & that's why his 'Waterlilies' is so blue, so I read somewhere.

Hope my eye is more comfortable tomorrow, start the drops in the morning so fingers crossed. At least I've been able to check the draws.

    • Best wishes Kat..

    • Kat, I hope your eye feels more comfortable soon.

    • Glad it all went well. Doesn't take long till everything is clearer.

  • I went for a few drinks recently with a newt, a skunk and a rat. I'm not going with them again, the skunk ended up drunk and the other two were no better

  • What's the difference between , deny all cookies + disagree

    • Thanks we will see then as I don't want everyone's crap .

    • AI says .....The primary difference between "Deny all cookies" (often labeled as "Reject all") and "Disagree" in a cookie consent banner is that "Deny all" is an active, specific action to block non-essential tracking, whereas "disagree" may be a more general, sometimes less effective, indication of non-consent that might still allow certain data processing under "legitimate interest

  • QUESTION:

I'm new here, so please forgive me for not knowing the answer to this one!

Do we get a bonus for submitting or replying to a comment?

    • The members on here are a full of humour, have lots of good advice & support. I'm glad MSE told me about PMP. Even if I never win I always think I picked a winner by joining. Worth it for all the comments.

    • Winning would be 'icing on the cake'.

      Cake community.

    • Yes indeed Em!

    • Certainly do Em .

    • Welcome to our site Star Rocker.

The comments are just a way of connecting with the PMP community and we have a lovely one here. I know you may think that I am biased, being a member of staff, but I know that other members will agree with me.

    • Welcome Star Rocker

No we don't earn bonuses for that, they are earned by completing surveys, taking up offers featured by PMP, and recruiting new members by using our referral bonus. The bonus is only paid out when you win, this is a free lottery, not a cashback site.

  • Good afternoon. It has been sunny all morning. Just had a stroll to the post box to post the booking form for the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. This year we are going to the matinee performance on Nov 30th. The coach company is not doing the Bure Valley Railway this year, instead we are going to Wroxham Barns. Sounds expensive so I had better start saving. It was nice to see daffodils in flower on my stroll. The bluebells are coming up. The feed bowls I use for Puss Puss are by a water butt Where they get washed. I was putting a bowl down this morning and I thought it was a leaf in another bowl filled with water. Closer look revealed a smooth newt and it is alive.

    • I saw a small flying beasty on Sunday & I know it was too small to be a bird. So, could only have been a flutterby. It's not particularly cold just now but it's going to be. Pity the flutterbies😥

    • Oh dear! Fri 13th and Sat supposed to be hitting minus 3 in Lancashire so many places could be worse.

    • How lovely to see a newt in your garden Shyboy. The only time I see newts is in the pond at the National Trust property Greys Court.

    • Fidsta, I appreciate the warning. Surely it can't be worse than Pandora in Norwich!

The newt has wandered off somewhere. Hope it survives, it's only 3 inches long.

    • A word of warning - Wroxham Barns IS expensive!

Also, some of the shops do not take cash (booo!) so have a backup card at the ready.

We used to play mini-golf there but stopped when they changed the pricing structure to: "one price for entry to the whole entertainment area" which effectively doubled the price for the golf, which was the only thing that interested us.

I am rather close to WB (which is not actually IN Wroxham, by the way) so I can possibly scout out any info you might need. At the risk of sounding a tad American, just holler!

    • Sounds like something disturbed the newt to be out this early.

    • Nice to hear that spring is on its way. I hope we don't get another cold snap which will kill the daffodils and probably the newt too. I also hope it survives.

Thinking about Christmas trips already! My goodness! But yes, I suppose you need to with savings and costs of things these days.

    • Wow, it's woken up early. Hope it survives.

  • Is there any chance of getting Dark Mode for the site? >.>

    • Bezley...you could go into your settings and turn down brightness on screen as and when you need to...

    • Dark mode is a browser setting rather than a PMP setting.

      Thanks for helping Bezley, Choc.

    • If you haven't got the dark mode available on your phone/tablet/ PC which is under Settings, Chrome has an extension.

  • Just to warn anyone driving in our area in the next couple of months - there is likely to be a convoy of lorries through the New Forest on a weekly basis, possibly more often, bringing puppy food and ‘training pads’ to my house. I started a pack of 100 pads when they were about a week or so old. They are now just starting their 4th week, I am well into the second 100 with a third coming tomorrow/Thursday. I have changed 18 so far today, and that’s trying to make them last with a couple of widdles, not change every time. I have also had a pack of 24 tins delivered yesterday, and have already finished three and half way through the fourth. Wonder if my bank manager would like a puppy. Indi is getting a bit fed up and refused to feed them first thing - they are getting teeth now, and go at her so hard it’s making her sore. Any suggestions what creams I can put on her (Mad, do NOT say ‘whipped’ or you’ll be back in the corner) ?

    • Beth. Whatever happened to Terry towelling cloth nappies? You youngsters have no idea🤣

    • Beth, not sure if you have a B&M locally, but they have bigger packs of pads which are cheaper - you could also try cutting them in half. They are clean little things! Indi will point them in the right direction when she has had enough.

    • Wow Beth8it, do you want me to start a go fund me 🙄🙄🙄 you must be really run off your feet, and as adorable as they are they will have you broke soon!!

    • I am now half-way through the pack of 50 training pads. Yesterday, I think I reached 20 but lost count. The little blighters had eaten their dinner so I took out the dirty newspaper that I had put down to protect the pads, plus the wet pads from overnight, so of course they had to come round and christen them - one on each pad, not using just one. Just finished the 8th tin out of 24 - not bad for 36 hrs!

    • Not long back from Oz (3 months) so catching up with everything, but Em sent me snaps of the puppies. They are adorable. You must be so busy!

    • Poor Indi.

    • Beth, I just asked my sister, who's a vet, and she said ideally, don't use creams as the pups could ingest it. Hopefully, now that the pups are on solids they will stop feeding from mum. Poor Indi, she must be really sore if they have teeth.

    • Still there from the last time. ;-)

    • Udder cream should work well.

      https://www.amazon.co.uk/Battles-Udder-Cream-400-g/dp/B00CUBSO6O

  • Just won £200 in the main draw along with a £147 bonus, plus an extra £20 for uploading a video. A few days short of 7 years on the site, never give up. Happy Days :-)

    • Congratulations on your win!🎉

    • Congratulations 😁👍

    • Well done V100, spend it wisely or not...

    • Congratulations 🥳

    • Congratulations V100 on your win from The Ghost. 👏👍

    • Well done V100

    • Excellent news! Congratulations 🥂

    • Congratulations , enjoy spending 🥳 x

    • Woo-hoo. Congratulations.😊

    • Well done you - worth the effort to check

    • 🎉 Congrats 🎉

    • Congratulaions 💰👍🙂

  • I was rushed up to a&e after drinking a bottle of invisible ink.

Been here 6 hours and still not been seen 🤪🤪

  • Congrats to another Flash Draw winner. Since the subject was raised recently there have quite a few claimed. 😊

    • Well just rub it in,why don't you.. ;-) ;-)

    • …and another claim today!

    • I would have a good moan about it, but it's not the weekend. ;-)

  • I panicked when I heard there was a kidnapping at my granddaughter's school. But by the time I got there the kid had woken up 🤪🤪

    • I used to call Indi a little tick, because she was little and fat and bloated when I first got her.

    • I thought the black puppies looked like tadpoles with their round bodies and little tails!

    • 😂 @Kenny b

    • @ kb, Chuckle did i.. :-) :-) :-)

    • I didn't realise we needed to let Em know. I'll need to do that so that I can see them to.

    • @Beth. Finally got around to asking Em to send me the puppy photos. Love the one where they are all dining from their little bowls. Cute! 🐾🐾🐾

    • 😊

  • Another 8 times today, its very disappointing

, there was an issue with your answers

Thank you for taking part in the survey, but PureSpectrum were not able to use your answers this time, as there was an issue.

    • I’ve clicked on over 30 PureSpectrum ones today with the usual result! I like to get them out of the way so I can spot surveys from other sources more easily!😂

Still waiting and ready to spot……..

      👀!

    • Trayistats ask if you want to try another survey, usually anyway. I say 'no' and get 5p.

    • I have found Trayistats pretty good at completing , whereas PS do screenouts nearly every time

    • It's pure spectrum going to Trayistats that is doing this, happened to me a couple of times today. plus umpteen times over the last week too.

But I just carry on rather than complain.

    • Possibly they're just whinging (repeatedly I agree) & don't want an explanation 🤔

    • Maybe I better email this member since they are clearly not coming back and checking the replies to their comments. (Done)

    • Makes the fourth time this has been mentioned, and Em has explained at least three times already.

  • GY - had to look it up, couldn't think of a city to match. (Depart RNAS Yeovilton, bearing 180, ca 100 nm).

    • So did Gibraltar (but you can't use them) and the Isle of Man. The 3 you can use are in the British Isles

    • Yep, its Guernsey. Even though, as a Crown dependency, its technically not part of the UK it adopted Royal Mail's system. (Jersey did the same.)

    • Guernsey ???.. ;-)

  • I am currently seeing a Temu ad for what looks like a frilly toilet seat cover and cistern cover it looks the most unhygienic thing and I cannot believe people buy them!

    • Wow. I have just seen the atrocity that is the Temu toilet cover set. £11.70 ! It has 21 5*reviews, mostly from the UK. Have they never heard of hygiene ? Unbelievable.

I shall not be purchasing such a thing for my throne

    • Lol 63. That's happened to me in the past, I suspect that's why they make toilet seats with a cut-out at the front. You're not likely to see those in ladies public toilets...or at least you wouldn't have done years ago.

    • Tell it like it is, Kat! They’re probably sitting up above, (or down below) sticking pins in a doll of you. Wait till you meet them on the ‘other side’

    • Doesn’t seem to be any love lost there Kat. 🤦‍♀️

    • Ouch!

    • @A Nick Name reminded me of the thick bit of carpet that Nan had attached to the top of the loo lid by two straps of knicker elastic. It was just thick enough to stop the seat staying up on its own, but it stayed up just long enough to make you think you didn't need to hold it up while having a stand-up pee. Halfway through and mid-stream, BANG! Down it would come.

If you can imagine how tall I would have been at about 5 or 6 years old, I was lucky not to receive a life changing injury.

    • Why anybody would want all that stuff in a bathroom I don't know. Clutter & fripperies are a disincentive to cleaning. My late MIL & her blessedly late daughter collected crap like magnets. Looking around their dust & crud encrusted home was like looking at a prize shelf at a coconut shy, only tackier. I shudder to think just what must haves they'd have bought from Temu, whilst the final demands from all & sundry were piling up in the 'ornate replica resin postbox' wobbling on the gatepost.

Those two didn't even have the redeeming feature of being pleasant!

    • Go back far enough and the Victorians put frilly covers on table legs, because LEGS were immoral and Not To Be Mentioned, let alone seen.

    • I've only just seen this ad. I clicked through to find out more about it - it has a matching fabric-covered toilet seat as well.

As Jaffa says, a hygiene nightmare!

(And, having clicked on it, I'm going to be bombarded wih similar ads for who knows how long)

    • They used to be the height of fashion. I never understood why.

    • There was another knitted lady with a foam underskirt which you soaked in cold water and placed over your milk bottles to keep the milk cold.

    • Barrie you are just confirming all the worst thoughts I had!

      Nick this is even worse.

    • I just saw that advert & thought "If that was in our house, I'd deliberately urinate on it".

    • Jaffa. I'm guessing you weren't around in the 70's then? The seat covers were all the rage back then. You'd get the set of three, seat cover, floor mat to sit around the base of the loo and the small mat for beside the bath. And of course if you had those you had to have the lady who covered your loo roll with her skirt.

    • An aunt of mine had one. It was years before I learnt its purpose. I suppose it kept dust off the roll.

    • We had one of those dolls with a knitted dress too, never used it in the end as guests could never find it 🧻. Why would anyone be offended by seeing the spare roll, when there's one in use on the wall holder beside the loo?

    • I see that too. Reminds me of the loo roll "hider" in my Nan's house, a little doll with a huge crocheted flamenco dress so that nobody got embarrassed about having to look at the spare loo roll. Except this one covers the entire bog.

    • You mean.that one with red top & white tassles? I was wondering what it was at first, & what sin we committed to materialise that abomination.

  • Very nice and good good experience with all community. I'm very happy for other members who win the cash .I hope I will definitely win so please all friends pray for me. Thank you 😊

    • If you're new, welcome to our community.

Keep checking and never give up hope! Any active account could win at any time.

    • Best of luck, Sirsasana !!! "eat bananas"

  • OK..Not sure if I’ve 100% done a good thing, but here goes…. I’m a member of the Prince Charles Cinema, just off Leicester Square in London, and in April they’re running a “Lord of the Rings” marathon showing all 3 “Extended Editions” of the Peter Jackson movies, and I’ve just bought a ticket.. The show starts at 10pm and, with a 15-20 min. break between films finishes at 10am the following day. My logic is that a few years ago I did a “Star Trek” movie marathon of all 7 (as there were then.. ) movies back to back, and I got through that with flying colours (OK, had a bit of a doze during “ST:V” - I think most of the audience did…🥱!). Only thing is, a “few years ago” turns out to be in - wait for it… - 1994 (only a “mere” 32 years ago..😬!), and if myself then could see myself now he’d probably say something like (with apologies to Harry Enfield..) “Sorry, sport, but I couldn’t help noticing that I appear to be considerably younger than yow..!” I had my 70th Birthday in November last year - so are the odds stacked against me making it?? All I can really say is “Watch this Space…”. Or possibly Middle Earth…..🤔!

    LLAP. 🖖 (💤💤💤💤…..)

    • @Dekko, that really is a complete lie.

    • Hi all.. Thanks again for the responses - Em, I’m also hoping that the action scenes and the music will keep me going, along with the Red Bull…🤞

      LLAP 🖖!

    • And don’t forget the older you are the less sleep you need…….allegedly!😴

    • Ah, all nighters, fond memories.... sorry, TMI! 🫣You're talking about films. 🤣🤣🤣

    • We did a few all nighters when I was at University, don't remember what series of films they were though

    • The music and the fight scenes will keep you awake, I'm sure.

    • Trekker, I would expect several calls of nature with several cans of Red Bull involved. It's powerful stuff though. On one of my long drives I had a bottle of similar stuff ready for motorway stretches without exits or services to provide a chance to rest. Csikiedit also drank some (to keep me company) and after a while she wondered why our baby wasn't sleeping. Breastfeeding passed on the stimulant.

    • I used to do all night elvis movies.10 pm till 7 in the morning the ABC cinema had a huge screen…great memories from the 80s

    • I too did the Star Trek marathon at the Odeon Leiceter Square, but back then it was only the first four movies.

I think I got a tactical nap in during The Slow Motion Picture (the first film) so as to be alert for the three that were worth watching.

    • Thanks everyone for the encouragement - I’m certainly going to try my best (there may be several cans of Red Bull involved…!). The show starts at 10pm on the 25 April (which means I’ll be able to check the 9pm Stackpot…👍), and we get out at 10am the following day, so 🤞for the 9am…! I’ve booked an end row seat, so hopefully if there are any, ahem…, “calls of nature”, I won’t disturb anybody if I get up to answer them…😉! I’ll post an update after the event - whatever happens..🥱!

      LLAP 🖖!

    • Vue cinema at Livingston just hosted them too. The cinema features comfortable,, recliner seating for the long runtime. The total running time for all three movies is approximately 11.4 hours (682 minutes).

The Two Towers Extended Edition (2002) Friday 6th Feb, is a 3-hour 55-minute version of the film, adding 44 minutes of new scenes, enhanced special effects, and music. Key additions include Eowyn singing at Theodred's funeral, more developed scenes with Faramir, Boromir flashbacks, extended Ent scenes, and the appearance of Huorns at Helm's Deep.

The Return of the King (Extended Edition): Saturday 7 Feb: 16:00

The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition): Sunday 8 Feb: 13:40

Don't forget the matchsticks to prop the old eyelids open. Hope you stay awake to enjoy them.

    • I still imagine driving half way across Europe at 70 (years of age, not mph - average closer to 70 kph) as I did a few times twenty plus years ago. Not sure now that I would be safe driving all through the night.

    • Give it a whirl and challenge yourself to last the distance.

We did a cinema overnight marathon of Friday The 13th parts 2 to 6 (or 7?) back in my youth. No idea why they skipped number 1 though.

Anyway, we definitely started to nod off but once the local gangs started to fight in the toilets between each movie, we were *definitely* awake!

It's also freaky to exit the next morning into blinding daylight.

    • Go for it you might surprise yourself!

    • I wouldn’t mind doing that, too - but then it’s so much easier to sit at home and watch the DVDs with coffee, cake, my own toilet, rewind if I fall asleep… no, I’ll give it a miss.

    • Good Luck, I'm sure you can do it! 👍

    • Wow I think this is great. Why not - I'd be up for it if I had the chance and I am a few years older. Of course you will make it, you are a spring chicken!

    • Go for it T and have a good time. Keep hydrated, but not to hydrated if you know what i mean!!.. LLAP..

  • Just won £20.00 plus bonus of £32.59. Thank you Chris and the team. Apologies, can't access Trustpilot to leave a review.

  • And the Lord said into Moses

Come forth my son and receive everlasting life.

Unfortunately Moses came fifth and won a kettle.🤪🤪

    • He spoke to his heart (bypassed the ears).

    • Should have used spell check!!

    • The Lord say INTO Moses?

    • 😂@ Kenny b

    • Enver, big square nose?

    • Did The Lord apologise to Aaron for giving him a big square nose?

    • :-)

  • A large road walked into a bar and ordered a pint, then went and sat down at a table to drink it. A bit later another road came in, bought a pint and went and sat down with the other road. Finally a very small bit of road came in, bought a pint and went and sat down at another table.

The barman noticed the first two bits of road had gone very quiet and were looking very nervous, so he went up to see what the matter was.

'See that piece of road over there' they said...'He's a cycle path' !!

    • 😂😂😂

    • @ImReallyAnElf - don't feel bad, exactly the same here. 😉🤣

    • Hadn't heard it before - it took me a moment I'm ashamed to admit, then it did have me giggling.

    • :-) :-)

    • 🤣🤣

    • Old but never ceases to amuse.

  • Why should you stand in the corner if you get cold ?... It's always 90 degrees...

    • 😂

    • Stayed for a few months in my friend James's house built long ago on fen. Very few right angles. Some time later a mutual friend asked me to sort out the legs on a bed she'd been given as it would not stand level. Hardly needed to ask if the bed had come from James.

    • :-) :-).

    • That's actually not bad!

Except I bought a corner shelf to to put up in my Westbury built house and discovered that the corner of the room is about 95 degrees!

    • You’re often told to stand in the corner so you should be hot most of the time😜

  • Yay! Another Flash Draw claimed. 😊 What’s going on? 😆

    • Not sure when they're cleared down though. 🤔

  • Im keep trying but never working I’ll still keep goin til the end

    • 👍

  • Lovely day today - I had to take Indi and the 6 pups to the vet for their health check and to get their first wormers. My friend's daughter, Annabelle, came over to help, and we had to put them into two boxes, not just the one we used last time, they are so big now. Even then, the bottom nearly fell out on the way back. It was bedlam in the waiting room, with two cats in a cat box screaming blue murder in one end of the room and the puppies all yapping and yelping at the other end. There was only one other dog waiting, an old bulldog, who looked totally peed off. All the vet nurses came out to see the pups, stayed for a good 20mins holding them - one is interested in taking him on, so I made sure I did a head-count before we left! All the pups got a good health check, are doing fine, and so is Indi. More visitors this afternoon to see them, Inc. the mum who owns the puppies' father.

    • Feliway? I’ll get in trouble for you. 😊

    • Beth8it! Glad the vets went well x We went to the vets today with our 2 new Kittens Maine Coons brothers) for their 2nd jabs. Luckily there was enough loose skin to inject into it didnt look like they felt anything bless. Same as you we came away with worming medicine . . oh the joys hey ;) Weve had them a week now and one of the resident cats has already taken to playing with them and eating with them, its lovely to watch. We did do belt and braces and bought a calming spray (it wasnt cheap but wow it seems to have worked really well, weve tried a few in the past, around op time or new additions etc but this one is def the best. Even our quiet/shy girl now sits on the stairs to watch them zooming about, which is a first. Apparently it can be used for horses as well as the usual dogs, bunnies etc, not sure if im allowed to mention its name, sorry)

    • Wish I could have seen the scene at the vets!

    • 👍

Edit - Believe it or not, that's a 'thumbs up' emoji - not that you can tell very easily after the update 🙄

    • Yes, Jet and Jasper are two on the list, although my brother had a black lab called Jet, and I feel a bit unsure about ‘pinching’ another dog’s name. Might do, but it’s not a name you can shorten or lengthen.

    • May already have been proposed, but if you're going down the precious and semi-precious stone route, how about Jet for one of the black ones?

    • Mad- I am NOT calling one Banana, no matter how much you nag me! Ruby seems to be sticking with the biggest female, the yellow one, and I would like to rename Woody for the other yellow one but can’t find anything better that really appeals. Either Jade or Ivy for the little green-collared bitch, Amber for the orange-coloured one, maybe Jasper for the purple-coloured one? Not really sure. I like Storm, or Shadow, but think it is really up to the new owners. Not very original after all the great suggestions you all gave, but until their personalities come out a bit more, it’s easier to just give ‘colour’ names, like Indi (Indigo).

They have just started trying to play now - one or two chewing the others’ ears and tails, sometimes one will jump on another and flatten it. I gave them their first wormer dose today - don’t think I am very popular now. Two more days to go.

    • Are you still thinking about names Beth !!!.. ;-)

    • They’re lovely. 💚

    • I showed my granddaughter the photos and she wants to go and steal one (or six) 😂

    • Glad to hear all went well and all puppies returned home!
