In a few weeks, we’ll have given away £1 million since we gave our first £10 away on April 1st 2011. A million is nothing for a “normal” lottery, but it’s big news for us. Thanks for all your suggestions for marking the occasion. This is how we’d like to start.
Like any n-tieth birthday, the milestone has crept up on us while we were busy dealing with other things. You may have noticed that we’ve had a tough few years with legal issues, and the internet becoming an increasingly challenging place for a small, tax-paying business. If this sounds like I’m buttering you up for a favour, your intuition is just another of your many fine qualities. So, the favour:
[A] please help us put together some shareable social media content, and [B] please share it.
First step: We need volunteers to appear in a video about PMP.
Whether you’re a past winner or not, we want you to send us (selfie) videos of you telling the camera why you like/love/tolerate PMP via:
Our Facebook page
Twitter
Plain old email
Here are some suggestions for what to include in your video:
- What’s your name and where are you from?
- When did you join PMP?
- Where did you find out about us?
- What are you normally doing when you check the results?
- What do you like best about PMP?
- Have you ever won/know anyone who’s won?
- If you’re a previous winner, what did you win and what did you spend it on?
- What would you say to someone who hasn’t heard of us?
- What would you say to any sceptics out there?
- Is it just about the potential free money, or is there another reason you visit the site?
Don’t worry about it being perfect. Feel free to ramble. We can edit out the not-best bits. Do please make sure you’re facing the light (from a window etc.) so we can see your face. We would also prefer you to record in landscape mode if possible (turn your device on its side). And if you’re a past winner, or know one, please do tell us 🙂
Alternatively, we can arrange for you to be interviewed by me on Whatsapp/Skype/etc. if that is easier for you. Please email us to let us know.
My fingers are crossed. I think this milestone earns us the right to be considered as a real (alternative to a) lottery. Despite being one of the biggest (#198) websites in the UK, we’re relatively unknown unlike, say, Mumsnet.com (#221), Expedia.co.uk (#239), and Moneysupermarket.com (#220). One in thirty UK residents have signed up since we launched, which is crazy to think about. We need your help reaching the other 29.
To be clear. I am asking for a favour. It’s cheeky. I fully expect to be mostly ignored, and possibly scorned. Like a medieval 30-something planning his 40th, the opportunity is worth it. We might not make it to £2million.
(A hopeful) Thanks in advance
Chris & Team (but mostly Chris) x
