Yes, really… I launched FPL five years ago on April Fool’s Day. Was met with understandable scepticism. We’re going strong now though!

Last year I posted an article remembering what a great 4th year it was and setting out our ambitions for the 5th:

“Since April the 1st 2011 3.8 million people have visited the site and over £45,000 has been won. Having undershot with my optimism when I launched the site my expectations for FPL’s 5th year are running high and I think that at least one of these figures will be doubled by the end of it.”

Well.. We’ve had nearly 11 million visitors now since we launched and have given away over £136,000. Since last year we have raised the Main Draw from £100 to £200 per day, and the Survey Draw from £50 to £150, not to mention the £5 and £10 Bonus Draws and Bonus Builder. We launched Tariff Team, our consumer union, and saved FPLers over £544,000 in energy bills and given FPL a facelift and the odd nip and tuck.

On our last birthday I told you about how I had left my full-time job to focus on the site. Since then we’ve setup an office and hired some great people to help with admin, moderating those torrential comments, finding great deals for the emails and Bonus Builder, and to help with some exciting new developments that we’ll be announcing soon.

I can’t wait to write again in a year from now and look back over what we’re planning to achieve from today. You may have noticed that we’re now ranked around 270 in the Alex UK traffic rankings. We’re gunning for a top 100 spot in the next few years and we aim to be giving away thousands of pounds every day by then.
