Any active account could win at any time. The system completes the draws from a database of active account ID numbers using a random number generator and the parameters of the smallest ID number to the largest. It then displays the postcode on the chosen account number as the winner of the draw. All it ‘sees’ is the account numbers of active members, it is not influenced by any other data or outside factors and is as random as a computer can be.
If a draw gets missed, the prize pot rolls over to the next draw and also members could build up their bonus to increase the amount which they could win. If they choose to do that.

Last year my pension provider said they were going paperless and doing everything online so I registered. This year I had a letter reminding me they had gone online only and to logon to find out pension for the coming year. I tried several times without success and the phone number was always engaaged with a long wait. Tried again today and got through, a very nice man talked me through the process and reset my password but I couldn't open any documents about my pension. He then asked which browser I was using (Chrome) and apparently that is not recommended for this site and I should use Edge instead. Logged off and used Edge instead but then found that all I can see are monthly payslips and as my pension has not been paid yet in April I can't access the information. I sent a message asking where I can find information about my pension for this year and had a reply saying they aim to reply in 5 working days. All they had to do was put the information in the letter they sent in March but that is obviously too easy.
Sorry for the rant but weren't computers supposed to make life easier, not complicate it more? Also I realise I am lucky to have a pension besides the state pension and don't want to sound entitled.

@Titchy - I too feel that life was much simpler before the internet. I lose the will to live some days trying to navigate through things that seemed to be so much quicker when you dealt with real humans in real time. Even the old paper filing system was easy to find things that you needed - unlike now when I never remember where I 'filed' a certain e-mail that I may need again! Maybe that's just me though. I'm a fully-trained Computer Dinosaur who suffers from Technophobia and I'd have the certificate to prove it, if only I could find it and print it off!

My company pension used Capita for a while to do the donkey work. Now I know why they changed to another firm. All they said was due to problems.

Capita are a disgrace. The first year they took over Mr Tom's scheme they charge everyone emergency tax. I got a laughing buffoon telling it would all be sorted out at the end of the tax year! So, what did he expect the people to live on who only had the pension they had messed up, it wasn't as if they didn't have the correct tax codes was it? No answer to that. Then they left a door open & everyone's personal details, bank accounts, addresses, date of birth, NI numbers, EVERYTHING the discerning identify thief required, was out on the internet! Glad when they got the boot! The new company just asked us to confirm we were not going to be going paperless. No thankyou! Why are companies making life so sodding difficult & time consuming. I'm retired, I don't want to spend my time 'going online' for everything. Also, when I ring I don't want the stupid 'the quickest way to contact us ... blah, blah, blah..' If it was really the quickest way FOR ME I wouldn't be on the flami.ng phone! My rant over, until the next time! 🤣🤣🤣

Oh it does make me feel a tad less frustrated to know I'm not the only one who's had a terrible week regarding technology supposedly making things easier!! First rise in blood pressure was trying to add this year's quota to our ISA, but because we had changed banks 10 months ago and wanted to send a deposit from the new one, oh my word, what a load of malarkey! It took 2 days to sort, pffttt!
The second challenge was renewing ( and negotiating a better deal) our broadband / landline / mobile contract. The phone call took Just under 2 hours to go through each product and read all the T &C's and then click the "approve" link. It would have helped ENORMOUSLY if I could have understood the young lady from Kerala, India! At one stage (and losing the will to live) I asked if I could have all the details emailed to me, but was told it was not possible until I had approved and agreed to the 24month contract at the end of the phone call, and only then would I get all the emails to peruse and then have a 14 days "cooling off" period to change my mind.
Life used to be so simple before tinternet!

Beth8it, I retired at age 57 to look after my mother and received my two works pensions. I still don't receive my state pension until I am 66 years and 6 months. I get annoyed when a survey asks me if I am retired, then changes the answer to retired with state pension. No, the government stole my state pension, I was supposed to receive when I was age 60!

I have been trying for two months to set up an online account for an ISA. The first time security rejected it and asked me to phone a particular number to correct. After one hour and a long convo, I made the alteration but it still didn't work. Got an IFA to intervene, who made a complaint, said sorted but no, it still didn't work. I've actually given up. Any communication from them will result in a strongly worded response.

Have you noticed how nearly every survey says ‘retired with a state pension’ OR ‘retired with a private pension’. Most people with a private pension would qualify for state too, surely? Even if contracted out, you would still get the age-related part of the state one. I assume it means ‘state pension only’ but it doesn't often give the option for both.

Out for a walk this morning and all was going (too) well. Indi decided she really shouldn’t be there as she wanted to wait for her dog walker, so was hanging back quite a way. Shadow was fine, galloping round off lead and being good, and I thought it was time to drop the leads on the others, just for a short way until we got back on to the forest. Then we reached a pile of dry horse poo - Shad came past no problem, Storm thought about it but stopped in time, and Poppy grabbed a bit. I shouted at her to leave, she backed away as I tried to open her mouth, turned and fled, Storm went too… Shadow looked up at me and said, ‘I’ll stay with you, Mummy’ and just trotted alongside me, and just then Indi came into view with two pups bouncing round her. We continued on our way - I did get hold of the leads before leaving the woods, but I hate grabbing them as soon as a dog comes back, or it quickly learns not to come back.

Well, almost two years ago My Daughter, driving straight on at a roundabout was hit by an Amazon van, the driver did not stop. Thankfully she was not injured, though very shaken.
Police say nothing they can do, and Amazon where nothing but obstructive.
Thanks to the near-by Wetherspoons we had clear CCCTV, though no reg' number.
Her insurers where not very helpful either, last year they gave her £300 for the poor way they handled communication, not explaining what was happening.
December, insurer says they cannot trace driver and thus claim would go against her.
We say this not acceptable, video clearly shows van entering her lane and hitting RHR.
February, they reduce it to 50/50, and try to make it sound like they doing her favour.
I dictate a letter requesting they do what we pay them for, and represent us by bringing a claim against Amazon and initiate Court proceedings.
They can tell where a parcel is at any given time within 6 feet, so why can't they identify a driver. Beside, they have a duty of care.
Not her fault so no liability accepted.
Today, they offer another £300 apology, refund the £600 excess and mark it as a no fault accident.
So, financially a good outcome. Sad that amazon have got away with it.
Moral of the story, don't give up.

Lol, you are right about the MD or owner should be held responsible.
You may recall an incident on the M62 a few years ago, where two lorry driver got into an argument. One pulls a weapon on the other, climbs back into his cab and reveres into the other truck, several times.
The Police traced the registered keeper who said he couldn't name the driver as 'he was scared of him' !
In that case he definitely needs locking up. No one faced charges over the incident.

Thanks Lol, I did contact John Boumphrey through Linkedin, that got me past Amazon gestapo, but their 'claims handlers' (ARC) would not budge.
Amazon say they can't identify Driver, ARC say without driver they can't progress. As I say, a closed shop of conspiracy to deflect responsibility.
My Daughter is happy with the settlement, especially as it was looking like it good drag on. In theory she would have had to pay for cover without NCB and then try to recoup that along with the damage to her car.
Alas, what we know now is, she should have stayed in her damaged car, feigned injury and waited for Police whilst blocking a main artery into the City centre.
She thought she did the right thing on the day.

I've long said that if a fleet vehicle or a hire vehicle is in an accident or receives a speeding ticket and the driver cannot be identified, the Managng Director or the owner of the business should be prosecuted for the offence accordingly.
See how quickly Jeff Bezos gets his fleet administration tightened up once he gets a few thousand points on his licence.
Or John Boumphrey if you're interested in the head of Amazon UK and Ireland. Just saying.

Alley - All to often Insurance companies do what is better for them and not for their client.
In their world it is easier to settle rather than fight against a 3rd party.
I have heard of it many times.
Along with writing off perfectly good vehicles, insurance would be a lot cheaper if managed correctly.

Many large companies are their own insurer, they have to put up a Bond, not entirely sure how it works now, but it was One Million £.
Had an issue with Securicor many years ago, so learnt about it back then.
We where pressing Privilege to take Amazon to Court, or indeed do it ourselves if it came to it. But, as you say, they have deep pockets.
Before Privilege came through I thought about naming the CEO as defendant, something I have done in the past. They usually compromise, as the Boss man does not want to appear in Court.

So anyone can open an insurance Co & insure themselves? What if the driver kills someone ... If the insurance were giving everyone including police the run around, I'd say that was an offence of obstructing justice, dangerous driving, harbouring a criminal, & driving without effective insurance.
Surely you could sue them in court for damages, but they're bigger with deeper pockets than you, so this is getting like America.

Many years ago I had a bad insurance experience. I was driving down the road and a guy in a Mini Van decided to do a 3 point turn right in front of me. I had no time to stop so ran into him. When I asked him why he didn't see me he said he had his indicator on so I should have seen him. I got my repairs done and sent the bills to my insurer. Over a year later I got a renewal advice which showed I had lost 2 years no claims. When I queried it I was told that they had agreed to a 50/50 settlement but had not bothered to tell me. Not so much help or protection in those days so after trying to change it I had to give up. My only consolation was that I was insured comprehensively so my insurers paid for my repairs less the excess. The other guy was only third party so he had to pay for his repairs from his own pocket.

Malc - My Daughters insurer was Privilege. Their communication was very poor, but they did come good in the end.
And primarily, their premiums where the best value at the time.
You pays ya money and make your best choice.
Enver - Amazon are their own insurer so claims are dealt with through a broker called ARC, both they and Amazon go out of their way to be obstructive, no direct contact policy, each reply was from a different person.
I thought leaving the scene of an accident was an offence but Police said it was a Civil matter. The PC we spoke to did try and liase with Amazon, but they give him the run-around also.
I know someone who works for Amazon, he gave me the address where vans park up. The guy on the gate was very helpful but laughed when I mentioned checking for damage.
There must have been 40 or 50 vans, most less than 2 years old and nearly all had some damage !
We had exact time and date, Amazon could have located van if they wanted to. Bottom line is they use their size to dodge responsibility.
Initially they said I had to open an Amazon account before they could discus it with me !
I got around this by contacting their MD on LinkedIn, but that help soon disappeared.
Driver beware.
😎👍🏼 ...9--0==✈🌞🐯
Surely Amazon have all their vehicles insured with the same insurer, & they would be tracking each vehicle so customers would know when to expect delivery. Your insurer could know which insurer Amazon use & go from there..
Police could visit their local depot & inspect all their vehicles for damage that night, ... like they did with me when my lorry was fictitiously accused of almost totalling the SIDE & REAR of some car parked down a narrow road to an address I had to go to in Stoke on Trent, a nice WPC was waiting back at my depot in Barking to inspect my lorry that evening - not a scratch on it. People with damaged cars seem to take the Co name, phone number & registration of any likely passing vehicle.

Quite agree with the female narrators being a bit more tiring to listen to, but it’s probably something to do with the register of their voice - I don’t mind the newsreaders Jane Hill, Sophie Raworth and Reeta C, but then they have reasonably low voices. Kat, when my cousin had his eye done (before the time when you can get new specs) he bought a pair of £1 reading sunglasses and managed with those for a while. Thank you all for your good wishes. Much appreciated.
Learning to manage without specs is hard, worn varifocals for 40 years so it's weird not having specs on! Magnifying specs not much use because the untreated eye doesn't focus properly (lazy sod!) I found some ancient varies out which don't have much correction on the treated eye side & I used them to read a bit last night. Been listening to audiobooks but I'm waiting for the next in series of Peter Grainger's D.S Smith series. I like the narrators voice, Gilbert somebody. I have listened to one from another series which has a female voice & it features a female detective, D,I, Freeman? I know the narrator is right for the subject but I don't really like female narrators, find the male voice easier on the ear. Is this only me or is it quite common? What do you think younger sister?🤔

Good luck, older sister! You can have the marzipan - I do qute like it, but went into Grape Tree today and succumbed to the Cherry Bakewell Bars. I did manage to eat one between there and the osteo, about fifty yards and hid the other one as I know he likes them too! Bit niggled that they used to be about 89p, then kept climbing to their current rate of £1.19 - at least it helps the diet if the price keeps climbing.

Going back to SpaMedica on 9th May. Apparently the fluid has gone, almost, so it's definitely improving but it seems to be variable in clarity & comfort. The other eye, which was compensating, seems to not want to play anymore. I asked why the nurse was showing me a chart in Chinese or maybe Korean at the last visit, that's how bad the blurring & double vision in the untreated eye was! I really was lucky to spot the marzipan wasn't I?🤣🤣🤣

I forgot all about Easter marzipan, thought that was Xmas only, I like rum'n'raisin but prefer pineapple, I checked both my stores right now, Aldi say they shot off the shelf soon as reduced - nil stock, & Lidl say they don't do marzipan logs at Easter, if you got any at all at 9p then I'd say it was a success. Sorry to hear you eye is still dodgy, hope your next appointment is soon?

Kat Sorry about the eye but remember your mouth hasn't moved, you'll still manage to get through that marzipan. And well done, even I had to pay 20p at Lidl, I bought loads. I'm expecting to be near Aldi tomorrow so I'll have a look but I'd expect them to be gone now.

Glad you can see them, Kat. I will send on any his owner sends me, but nothing today. I did take them out for a walk a couple of times today but really can't manage three manic termites and a camera as well as staying upright. Hopefully next week stepson will have a few days off and has promised to take on more help with the monsters.

Hi everyone,
With the kind permission of Chris (the admin of PickMyPostcode), I am sharing a link to a questionnaire I am carrying out for my Masters degree in Youth Work Leadership. I'm looking to find out more about how people around the UK perceive young people and youth work. It takes about 10-15 minutes of your time, and every response helps to expand our surprisingly undocumented understanding of this important topic!
https://qualtricsxml9lhljps7.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0BAzR8hCSeGmivs
I hope you will consider taking part. It doesn't collect any especially identifying data if you are like me and don't like giving that out! Thank you in advance for your time and help.

I've just completed this, James, and have also put a link on my Facebook newsfeed. I have to say, it was quite interesting and it turns out that I have much more of a view on the subject matter than I anticipated! Good luck with the research and your degree.

We went for a very short walk after tea, only going a little way into the woods. All going well, so I decided to risk dropping Storm's lead and letting him run with Shadow. All going fine until we turned back - Storm took off for home like a bullet, for some reason - I sent Indi after him to grab his rope but she stoipped halfway to watch him, daft bat. I was about to ring home to tell stepson to go out the front to catch him and bring him in, when Storm suddenly stopped, looked round and came tearing back. Goodness knows why he did it, but maybe we'll keep it for the outward journey, and catch him up before we turn for home. I want to get them off-lead asap as they are more inclined to follow, and come back, when they are not sure of their surroundings, and it gets them into the habit of looking round, coming back and 'checking in' regularly. I don't want them getting like my neighbours' dog - never off the lead because she wouldn't risk it when it was a puppy, and when it was older it ran off once, so that was it - on the lead for the last 5 years.

I used to walk our 2 dogs in Thetford Forest. They would run ahead but look back every so often to check that I was following. Sometimes I used to play a trick with them. I would wait till they looked back and then hide behind a tree. The older dog would run back and continue past where I was hiding. The younger dog would run back to the exact spot she had last seen me. I had to come out of hiding then in case the other dog kept running away.

Today’s report from the battleground: the pups have been for a short trip into the woods today, for a new experience. We only went about a couple of hundred yards to the entrance gate, then about the same again, but I did let Shadow off the lead, as he is very good and I don’t think he will go far. They were fine when we got back, so I took them again at lunchtime. All going fine until Indi decided it was all too exciting and started zoomies all round us. She flattened poor Shadow, just galloped over him, then rolled him over and started growling, asking him to run with her. Poor thing, he was scared silly and hid in the bushes until I managed to get her back on four wheels again. At least they are quiet now - I should be studying but currently having a dribble - Sean Bean is on with a double bill of Sharpe!

I know what I mean.
Husband walked in one day when Sharpe was on and chucked a tea towel at me. 'What's that for?' I asked.
'You were dribbling,' he answered.
I do plenty of drooling when I fall asleep in the chair in the evening, but I don't know what I am dreaming about.

John Tams on his early career: "We didn't do Drama at my school, we did smoking. Smoking, running about in t'cold, and metalwork. The careers officer told me "you'll go and work down t'pit", I said "I want to work for the BBC". He said "you'll be an electrician down t'pit". So I ran away and joined a travelling fairground."
John Tams on playing crack shot Rifleman Hagman: "I don't judge distances very well. I tend to be very careful with bayonets."
