22% of people said they will be spending less on Christmas this year because of the Cost of Living Crisis.
A nationally representative survey completed by PMPers on the Survey Draw with a sample size of 2,019 people, found that 22% of people will be spending less this Christmas. The cost of living crisis was sited as the most common reason for the decrease in spend, alongside answers such as financial difficulties and family circumstances.
The same survey found that 18 to 24 year-olds were most likely to spend the least on presents, while 45 to 54 year-olds spent the most. The highest proportion of people who said they would be spending less on Christmas this year lived in Scotland, and 16% of people who planned to spend more on Christmas this year than in previous are living in the North East of England.
65% of people stated they would be spending the same amount on gifts this year, with the most common range being between £100 and £249.
