Happy GDPR! We survived! Nearly 380,000 of you have consented to us sending you daily email alerts. It’s wonderful to feel so valued, not to mention, on the right side of the law.
Inboxes were torrential yesterday, and yes, we sent some emails out too. They worked though. And I hope we’re all being rewarded with blissful silence punctuated with the occasional interesting newsletter, or draw alert.
It’s not over yet though. Much of the advertising revenue that we make relies on third party “ad tech” companies using cookies to make ads more relevant to the person viewing them. If you visit lots of dog related websites, you might as well see ads about dogs, and so on. We’ll be trialling a new popup to ask you whether you want to allow this targeting to happen on your device. When you see it, please do take the time to read what it’s all about. It’s not scary, no one can see who you are or take personal information, it really helps us fund the prizes, and it should make browsing a better experience.
As mentioned in the last GDPR post, we’ve also changed your Account page so that you can access more of your data, update it, and remove it where you want to. You can finally see a breakdown of the most recent Bonus offers you’ve completed, as well as the answers you have given to the Survey Draw surveys (not the Pollfish ones though).
One thing to note is that we are now asking new members to set up a password. This is so that we can keep this data safe from unwelcome eyes. Existing members will be asked to set up a password on the Account page when you try to access personal information. Please note, this page might be a little buggy for now, so please be patient as we iron it out. If you miss the old account page you can still access that here.
Thanks to everyone who has consented so far, we really appreciate the massive vote of confidence.
Cheers!
Chris & Team 🙂
