A few weeks ago I announced that we are changing our name, in an effort to avoid litigation by People’s Postcode Lottery. Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey from that post. We’ve been playing with some ideas and wanted to get your feedback.
The image above shows four possible new names with some styles we’re considering. This is just illustrative for the moment, so the names don’t necessarily go with the styles, and we can take parts from one and mix with another, within reason. Also, Kat insisted on putting a dog in a couple of them for some reason… Not sure why.
We’ll be grateful for any kind of feedback, good or bad, as long as you’re trying to be helpful 🙂 One pointer though… FPL will be pretty familiar to you, but it won’t be for new visitors, who will need to understand what a free daily ad-funded lottery actually is, and that it’s nothing dodgy. So please, try to think think as a new visitor if you can. In other words, try to un-FPL yourself.
You can either leave a message in the Facebook comments section below, or probably more helpfully, leave some comments on our new survey here. Please also be mindful that some names are “safer” than others. Freepo and Pocolot are more likely to be “acceptable” than FPL or PickMyPostcode, though it’s hard to see how they could argue the case.
The news may have appeared suddenly on April the 3rd, but the experience for us has been anything but. Being forced to change our name has required us to understand everything we are, and we’ve learned a lot. The name has nothing to do with it. We’re a lottery without losers, the company that’s not a company, a unique daily “place” with an atmosphere of its own. We’re not competing with anyone, let alone imitating anyone.
Our new survey ends with a request for a photo of yourself, how and where you normally check FPL. Why? Because that’s what “we” are. We’re you, checking the website, when you can, where you can, and getting a momentary flutter of excitement while you look for your postcode. It’s about a daily routine, that you can take or you can leave. Some of you go as far sticking around to chat, and an overwhelming number of you are even willing to fight for us. We can’t begin to express our gratitude.
