What’s going on with the Survey Draw?

by Chris | News

chrisThe Survey Draw is over a year old and having recently reached £1050 is definitely the 2nd most important thing on FPL. But why’s it been so weird recently? We owe you an explanation.

It starts with every small business’s abusive partner, Google. Until a few weeks ago the Big G was keeping us stocked up with surveys and the resulting revenue to support the £150 per day prize fund. But then it dried up. The company who have built their business on information is ironically reluctant to give any out so we don’t know when (indeed, if) they’re going to come back. So, we’ve been working really hard to find alternatives. Some, like Pollfish, you’ve seen elsewhere on the site, but we’ve had to be a bit creative to make up the remaining shortfall.

We’ve created our own survey tool – Latemodern Research so that we can sell the same type of surveys directly. Like the ones fed in from Google, these are anonymous and are simply used to inform marketing decisions. We’ll keep them super simple so they won’t be a pain to complete. For anything more complicated we’ll offer Bonus as an incentive. We can also use this to provide competitions or offers from 3rd parties. In this case, we will always make sure we know who is behind it and exactly what happens to the data you enter.

Where there’s no survey available we’ve also been placing (what we believe is) a good offer. We urge you to take the time to check them out but, like the surveys, you are welcome to skip them and just get to the postcode.

We’ll be experimenting with some more ideas over the coming weeks. Many of you noticed videos appearing last weekend. These would show the postcode after the video had been played for a few seconds. This didn’t go down terribly well with some of you, particularly those who are sensitive about mobile phone data and battery usage. We quickly pulled them, and we’ve gone back to the drawing board.

I apologise up front for anything annoying or strange that you see on the page. Please be patient and rest assured that we know where the line is and will never knowingly cross it. And big thanks for your continued support and survey responses.

Thanks!

Chris 🙂
