You may have noticed an increase in surveys on the Survey Draw. Some better than others… But where are they coming from? We’d like to introduce Findoutnow.co.uk
We launched the Survey Draw back in 2015 when Google were falling over themselves to provide anonymous surveys to our members, and paid us handsomely for it. Then, in 2016, like too many great things, it died. Sick of waiting for it to come back, we decided to start selling the survey service to businesses ourselves. So we created Findoutnow.co.uk.
Very importantly, the results of these surveys are anonymous, and we do not share any personally identifiable information. This is NOT the same as what Facebook et al have been up to. The answers you volunteer (thank you) will only ever be shared in anonymously or in aggregate. eg. People in SW16 prefer cats to dogs, not Chris Holbrook is a cat owner (I’m not). This type of information is useful to businesses who want to know where their audiences might live, to charities who want to quantify problems and solutions, to PR companies who want an eye-catching statistic for a press release, or an agency for a pitch.
“Data” is a dirty word at the moment, but we hope that you understand that what we’re doing is inline with everything we’ve always been about. Transparency, privacy, and of course, being FREE. We’re registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, so even if we did go rogue, we wouldn’t get away with it. Not to mention… GDPR.
Making money from ads is increasingly challenging. Have you tried to read an article recently? You’re being interrupted and followed around the page so much because the old-fashioned ads just aren’t keeping the lights on any more. We block a lot of these ad “formats” because we want to keep our site a pleasant place to be. We’re very much hoping that selling survey data is a solution for us, and if we get it right, we’ll continue to increase the prizes.
We’ve been asking questions for a while now, but we’re only starting to approach businesses. Today’s announcement is the first step. We always want you to be the first to know.
If you’re interested in seeing some results from the surveys be sure to follow Findoutnow.co.uk on twitter.
Finally, apologies for, and thanks to those who have called us out about, the few less than well-worded surveys. It’s usually me, in a pub, demonstrating the service to someone. I’ll be more careful from now on 🙂
Hope you like it, and as always, we’ll keep you in the loop.
