Disney’s Marvel have fans shaking in their seats as they await the upcoming release of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
The new superhero movie is set to drop on 8 July and will feature an incredibly exciting cast, including, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) and Christian Bale (Gorr the God Butcher), as well as Russel Crowe, Matt Damon and Melissa McCarthy.
Expectations are exceptionally high for this movie, as it follows ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ which made a mind-blowing $1.89bn at the box office, and ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, which has received $911.3m, so far.
The film, directed by Taika Waititi, who also directed ‘Thor Ragnarok’ and ‘Free Guy’, has reportedly had a production budget of $185m, making it the most expensive film in the Thor franchise so far.
So what is the plot of the movie?
The film centres around the main villain, Gorr the God Butcher, who intends to make all gods extinct. Thor, being the hero he is, gathers together his new team, which will include Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster.
During the ‘Endgame’ phase, Thor was seen to have gained a *few* extra pounds after dealing with his self-doubt, but it appears the creative team have made the executive decision for him to come back strong and fighting fit for this movie, despite Chris Hemsworth begging the team to keep his slightly ‘chunkier’ image.
