No spare change? You’ve got more to offer

Part 1/2: I can’t help thinking that a lot of us feel helpless with so many causes asking for our limited cash. I want to show you that you can also make a huge difference by donating your time, your attention, and your skills.

First of all, I want to say a massive thank you to those of you who told us about the amazing volunteering you do. We still want to hear some more of your volunteer stories here. We will be announcing something special related to this very soon!

For now, here are some ways you can donate your time, from the comfort of your home and sitting in front of the computer (in your pyjamas!):

  1. Have a spare ten minutes? Do you have a computer you can use? Microvolunteering gives you the chance to volunteer your time, even if it’s just for ten minutes. You can donate your time through doing things such as proofreading, writing letters and filling out surveys with no commitment. You can choose a cause to help that you care about such as the environment, animal welfare and poverty. Head to HelpFromHome.org
  2. Do you have a skill you would like to donate for a good cause? Choose a cause you care about from a list that includes human rights, education and community support and identify your skill set from skills such as design, social media and fundraising and they will match you with a task that suits you. Skills for change encourages you to donate your skills at your convenience, take a look at SkillsForChange.com
  3. Give away your clothes without leaving the house and have a say in where they end up! Donate your old clothes to a charity of your choice from a long list of amazing organisations, and they will pick it up from you too! Find out more at ClothesForCharity.org.uk In the average UK household, 30% of our clothing has not been worn for over at least a year. Let’s all go to our cupboards and see what we can give away to a good cause!

Let us know if you have been inspired to do any of these by commenting below with what you plan to do − we’d love to hear from you! Keep an eye out for our next instalment, which will give you ideas on how to donate your time when you’re out and about.

Thanks!
Vic 🙂
